I have always wanted to have a go at ‘painting with light’. So blacked out the spare room and bought a bunch of tulips. The flowers are lit with a small torch waved over them for 81 seconds and the shutter set to ‘bulb’. Except for the 50% texture overlay (I thought the wardrobe doors were a bit boring) it is exactly as shot. /

Best On Full Size This image was taken at The Keystone State – Pennsylvania group’s recent shoot in Lancaster County, PA (near Manheim) at BreakAway Farms. One of the great things about this shot, for me, is that my Dear Hubby (who came along YAY!) actually found this little bottle and placed it on the window sill for me. He even named the shot. The bottle is from the wedding of the owner of the farm … 6 years previous. It eventually gathered quite a crowd … this is Ann, Mike and Eric all working to get just the right perspective!!!! The bottle image taken on the morning of August 8, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Shutter was at 1/50, aperture f/13, exp. 0.00, iso 400. Post processing included duplication of the image 3 more times at +3, 0, -3, -8 and HDR in Photomatix, then back to Photoshop for more work with the clone tool, levels, blending with a previously multiplied layer and addition of a texture. texture courtesy of Ghostbones on Flickr

Yesterday was the tapering of the autumn storm. Storm tears roofs and knock down trees. Image taken at Triadelphia Reservoir off of Route 97 in Montgomery County, Maryland, October 26, 2009. Nikon D300 with the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens; UV and CP filters; hand held, shutter 1/100, aperture f/10.0, exp.0.00, iso 500. Post processing included hdr at +/- 2 evals in Photomatix from a single hand held image, and a very faint texture layer.
