  • This is what was remaining this evening around 5:30, and after a day of horrific wind, and thunderstorms moving through Northern California. We had a severe wind warning; big rigs were pulling over on the I5 and the wind was almost impossible to drive in, gusting in every direction. The rain came down in torrants, and window wipers didn’t seem to help much and then just as quickly as it moved in, it was gone…the sun was shining through the clouds and the sun was beginning to set…..this is what was left, just Beautiful and Wild! ___ All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • I doubt most people are even aware that the Eastern plains of Colorado is actually in Tornado alley….the summers out here can be not only dangerous but deadly as well. Generally I try to stay away from this part of my state in the late spring and summer months…tornado’s just scare the heck out of me! Though I must admit, I would sure go chasing them with with storm chasers, and it is my understanding that for a $100- a day, you can take a trip with them doing just that. I may have to do this next summer, camera gear in tow :) I captured this on a late summer evening, oddly enough looking east, the opposite direction of the Sunflowers Fields I photographed. This supercell caused some havoc some 75 miles away from me, and later in the evening dropped down several twisters. However, what got me was the light, and how the whole storm was reflecting the sunset, even though the sun had already set. It is amazing to think that even though something as beautiful as this in nature, can also be deadly. • GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS / Photo best viewed large. / / / / / / FEATURED WORKS / “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” was FEATURED in the group #1 ARTISTS OF RED BUBBLE / / / I took this photo of Mammatus on a Good Friday before Easter in Ashland, Kentucky. The clouds first started rolling in and looked like fluffy white marshmallows. Then in front of the setting sun they dramatically began to change colors. They went from snow white to shades of silvers, pinks, grays, blues and even purples! The colors were quite striking and dramatic; these clouds were nothing like anything I had ever seen before! For a few minutes they turned very dark, and it was a sight I will never forget!! These amazing mammatus clouds lasted about 45 minutes before they exited my area. / / / We were under our second tornado watch of the year, and I found out later that I was standing right under the anvil of a severe thunderhead and that a tornado could have formed at any moment! Luckily for me it didn’t, and I was able to capture some phenomenal, amazing clouds. I can’t quite put it into words other than to say, “I closed my eyes for a few seconds and felt like I had been kissed on my cheek by an angel.” This was one time in my life that I will always remember!!! / / / This photograph of “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” has won National awards, been published in an Anthology, and has been shown on National television. This image is also featured in several websites and blogs throughout the USA and Australia for educational purposes. / / /

  • This storm occurred 21/12/06 approx 60km north of Adelaide tracking SE from the northern gulf region, and i intercepted near a town called Dublin, just along the Port Wakefield Hwy. The Bureau of Meteorology labelled this dangerous storm and developed into a defined squall line. The image is comprised of 9 exposures stitched together, and was taken briefly before i was pelted with mud, wheat husks and probably sheep poo. I witnessed imbedded gustnadoes on the leading edge, severe wind gusts i would estimate over 120km/h, 2cm hail and lightning every second. The storm weakened as it progressed to the northern suburbs as i pushed on further north, however the second line wasn’t as fruitful.

But I’ve been in a tornado (just a small one) and I’ve witnessed a boat founder in a waterspout. This image is dedicated to all the people who have fallen victim to the incredible destruction caused by these Visitors Upon the Winds. This image is an edited fractal that I painted. It’s the first time I’ve tried to do a painting of a figure on a fractal (although I’ve added lots of brushstrokes to add shapes and colors to fractals). I’m waaaaaaaay out of my comfort-zone with this one, so I hope someone likes it! / / / / /

It’s short for Brisbane Group / Feature Image – SEA Group A severe summer storm front moves across Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia. I was standing on the garden rooftop of our apartment in Caloundra watching the approach of this storm. It massed and shaped into this wave as it crossed from the mainland and headed out to sea.
