Building of this maginificent and enormous Cathedral started in the XIV Century after Jaime I conquered the island of Mallorca and put to death all the Moors that he could lay his hands on. It was built on the remains of the previous Mosque “Medina Meyurka”. Now a major tourist attraction, little remains of the previously flourishing Moorish society though many of the place names in Mallorca ring with its poetry, Banyabulfar, Binnisalem and Bunyola.
