I tried to make a DNA-like artwork using GIMP. This was originally a photograph of a Ferris Wheel believe it or not. This is highly experimental because I want to transform one object into something very different, using only paintbrushes, color modifications, and the iWarp command. I hope you enjoy this.
Warped an album by The Distortions. This is a made up CD cover for the CD challenge. The individual pictures that make up this cover can be seen in full in my gallery
Original Creation Date: April 24th, 2005 Marilyn Manson. I’m not a huge fan, though I have my moments. Either way, I saw this out-of-focus choppy picture of him and absolutely had to put it to paper. I’d say it was a success. This was by far one of my most experimental pieces to date. I took a few artistic liberties by adding the ” marks, the handprints (which are mine, yes, and done in white chalk), and the little saying at the bottom that I simply pulled out of my head. It might be a tad hard to read (purposefully) but for those who are curious it says “And tomorrow I shall save myself.” I didn’t do it on purpose, but the handprints really show just how big the piece is. For some reason I’m diggin’ that. Specs: / 14” x 14”, Charcoal on 90 lb. paper, Freehand Original available for purchase. / Either shoot me an email here or at to.the.fifth@gmail.com

Parades, such as during the Rocket Festival in Yasothon, Northeast Thailand, draw weird and wonderful characters out of the bamboo. This reveller, not the best looking in the crowd, will spend the day stuffing long tubes with gunpowder, hundreds of kilos of the stuff, before launching the missiles skyward. He doesn’t care where the rockets land. The rocket launching ensures that the rains arrive in May. / The original kodachrome film slide was so grimy that I had to spend a day cleaning the scan in photoshop, so even though I am sure no-one will buy this photo to hang on their wall, I hope people like this portrait of a colourful character. I never asked him about the tattoo, or the kangaroo….

/ __________________ Traditional painting, 24×30 cm / Acrylics, gouache & watercolours on canvas board. / Creation Date: 13.07.2009 A gift for my dear ZOMBIE and the GRINDHOUSE group. Captain Spaulding is a fictional character created by Rob Zombie and portrayed by Sid Haig in the films House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects Captain Spaulding was born on April 13, 1918 in Ruggsville, Texas with the name Johnny Lee Johns. He spent a small part of his childhood in the Ruggsville County home for orphaned boys until being adopted by a black family. Johnny Lee would soon grow very close to his adoptive brother Charlie. Johnny Lee developed an interest in sideshow deformities and violent crime photography, foreshadowing his Captain Spaulding persona. He began his murder spree as Mr. Ding Dong a Bo-Bo using his clown character’s name. Charlie would refer to him as Cutter after Johnny Lee stabbed a man to death, which he would take as his name. Around the fall of 1947, Cutter met Mother Firefly, who at the time took the alias Eve Wilson. She already had two children of her own, Rufus and Tiny. Cutter lived with Eve Wilson, even raising their daughter Vera Ellen together. During the summer of 1965, Otis B. Driftwood, wandered into Ruggsville County. He and Otis quickly became close companions and rivals. The two would often fight for control of the family. Otis was asked to live with the family; whom Otis called The Fireflys and it was he who also nicknamed Cutter, Captain Spaulding. Some say he was a historical person who lived in London in the 19th century. Others claim he was just the fictional character who first appeared in The String of Pearls, a penny part serial published somewhere around 1846-1847. / He was a barber who returned illegaly to England after he’d been deported on a trumped-up charge by a judge who wanted to steal his beautiful wife. With the assistance of his partner in crime, Mrs Lovett, he sets up a new life under a new name, he is now called Sweeney Todd. His razors are his weapon of choice, as he murders his wealthy customers by slitting their throats, then pulling a lever while they are in his barber’s chair which, unknown to them, is fixed to a revolving trap-door, making them fall backward into the basement. Then Mrs Lovett takes over by turning the dead bodies into meat pies and selling them to the unsuspecting customers of her pie shop. Highly recommended: / Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (1936), a film version of the Victorian melodrama starring Tod Slaughter as Sweeney Todd and Stella Rho as Mrs. “Lovatt”. / Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. A Musical Thriller (1979), televised in 1982, the acclaimed musical adaptation play by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler starring George Hearn and Angela Lansbury in outstanding performances. / Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), the ultimate version, a Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
