Whilst traveling in the north of Namibia in a 4wd, we could go almost a whole day without seeing anyone. We’d set our tent up in the middle of nowhere, wash in streams amongst desert elephants and wake up to wildlife surrounding us. Seeing animals in a NP like the Serenghetti is thrilling, but to enjoy it without another tourist in site for miles is a different experience altogether and one of the most exciting to date.

This is in Thailand where these monks recieve orphaned cubs and give them a safe haven… Tigers are very quickly becoming extinct due to hunting by humans…How terrible would it be for these majestic animals to die out!

Canon 10D / 17-40mmL Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Lower Antelope Canyon, called Hasdeztwazi, or “spiral rock arches” by the Navajo, is located a few kilometers away from the upper Antelope Canyon and is a more difficult hike. In quiet light, a golden glow / lasting a hundred perfect heartbeats… Artist’s notes: I have had the wonderful chance of seeing herons actually sunning themselves like this. In fact, there was one day that absolutely struck me with awe about the playfullness of these birds. I was working with a sheetrock crew, and the house we were at was on the banks of the Columbia river. We’d had a series of strange weather incidents in the valley, all of which flooded the river, and actually made a huge mess of it with countless trees/logs, branches, etc. being swept down the mountains and into the water. So for a couple of days, there was an endless log jam floating down the river. I was taking a break at the house during one of those days, and noticed herons standing on the logs floating down the river. They had their wings held out like in my picture above, and they were facing the sun. They would float down just so far, then turn and fly back up river. Next thing you know…here they’d come again… on a new log. All day long these herons kept repeating that cycle, catching rides on the logs while they could…and sunning themselves in the process. I thought that was so interesting and cool. Sunset reflected in the wet sand of the beach of Palmar, in Vejer de la Frontera (Cadiz, Andalusia) It’s one of the most famous of the region. 4200 meters long and just over 50 meters width of virgin natural beach and fine golden sand :D / It’s waves are also the best known of Andalusia to the practice of Surf, Bodyboard and Surf and Kite. / It’s also one of the most famous Sunset in the whole area and one of my favorites to see the sunset ;) Canon 400D Featured work in SEA group (August 09) / See also /
