I am lucky enough to live right next to a forest so I took the kids bush walking and got this photo of the sunset through the long grass.. I just really liked the golden tones and I had a different grass image but have taken it down and replaced it with this one.

Drove up here after a long day of taking photos hoping to catch a good sunset, ended up being pretty good. A composite of 15 images if you include the 3 shots taken to make each HDR photo. Stitched together using photoshop and did a bit of touching up in Lightroom. Sales 1 Matted Print 1 Poster On Saturday the 7th of February my family lost our home away from home at Marysville, as well as our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and our Abyssinian cat. My condolences go to anyone who also lost family, friends or property on this terrible weekend, and I know deep down that Marysville will be back and better than ever, in the near future… Click here for my other images of the Yarra Ranges
In quiet light, a golden glow / lasting a hundred perfect heartbeats… Artist’s notes: I have had the wonderful chance of seeing herons actually sunning themselves like this. In fact, there was one day that absolutely struck me with awe about the playfullness of these birds. I was working with a sheetrock crew, and the house we were at was on the banks of the Columbia river. We’d had a series of strange weather incidents in the valley, all of which flooded the river, and actually made a huge mess of it with countless trees/logs, branches, etc. being swept down the mountains and into the water. So for a couple of days, there was an endless log jam floating down the river. I was taking a break at the house during one of those days, and noticed herons standing on the logs floating down the river. They had their wings held out like in my picture above, and they were facing the sun. They would float down just so far, then turn and fly back up river. Next thing you know…here they’d come again… on a new log. All day long these herons kept repeating that cycle, catching rides on the logs while they could…and sunning themselves in the process. I thought that was so interesting and cool. Plus, I love herons anyway…so, it just seemed fitting to add one to this piece. :) (Original, 11×17 300dpi) / FULL VIEW RECOMMENDED* —-—- Stock Credits: model: mjranum-stock http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/art/Little-Black-Goth-5-59785430 / Boat and water: sxc.hu http://www.sxc.hu/photo/937674 / wing brushes: faeth-design http://faeth-design.deviantart.com/art/Wing-Brush-74055731 / textures: my own ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires / My artwork and photos do not belong to the public domain

Mersea Island, the most Easterly populated island in the UK, may not be renowned as a photogenic location, but, standing here at East Mersea, with the gently flowing seawater lapping against the tops of the wellies, with the line of posts so obligingly composed, and with the glorious colours spreading across the late afternoon sky, it was possible for a moment or two to believe that this was the most beautiful place on Earth. Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens. Exposure of 30 seconds at f/13.
Yes I know, another sunset shot of the Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. I just can’t help myself, I love this time of day and place, and I have to say, this afternoons sunset was the best yet. I honestly had to desaturate this shot. It was amazing orange, everything around you was glowing orange, the sky lit up!! My wife even said at the time, she had never seen anything like it. Canon 50D, 10mm, 20% desaturate, as the raw was just too orange… Available Large, and best viewed Large.. The full size print of this can be 1.5 metres x 1 metre.
This has to be one of my favorite shots I have taken to date, as I was shooting Fiery Skies I noticed a pelican in the distance incomming, I raced back to this palm I had in the shots earlier, as I knew the fisherman to the left of frame would get the pelicans attention… Paid off, one of the frames used in this shot was a cool timing pelican landing :) I carefully pasted out the other captures of this pelican in the other frames, so the one was clear in the HDR. I was almost going to paste in the whole landing sequence, as I pumped up the ISO to get the camera shooting at max fps. I hope you enjoy this shot, was real fun making it, and shooting it! Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm, 20% desaturate, as the raw was just too orange… Available Large, and best viewed Large..
We were racing the clock to try get to Port Arthur by sunset, and there was just too many bends, and slow trucks… However, this beautiful scene popped up, and we were only 10 mins from the site, I had to make a decision… I’m glad I stopped, turns out, the site was closed anyhow, and I got this shot of some weeping willows, and still water pools. 5 mins allong what seems to be an un-named side street, I think it was private property too, but not signed.. Tasman Peninsula, Tasmania, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm. Available large and best viewed large!!
Scanned slide Taken at Menindee NSW several years ago… I don’t know if there’s as much water there now as there was back then.
