This is a pencil portrait using the following reference: http://claireprob.deviantart.com/art/Milly-in-B-W-58041522 I used graphite pencils 8B – 2H, cotton swabs & balls and tortillions for blending. It’s on Bristol board with a vellum finish.
Ok, I admit, I made it rain on the poor spider’s home. Not only did I chase it, but I flooded it’s home with water from spray bottle. I couldn’t wait for the real rain to fall, in case the spider’s web disappeared. All I’ve done to the image is brighten it up and place a slight little frame around bottom edge.
This shot was taken just a few minutes earlier than my ‘Peaceful Skies’ shot but from a slightly different spot to get the rising sun behind the tree itself.

Digging in my old store I just found a shot which all those of you might like who have become fans of my magic light shots in the forests here around Hilversum. This one was taken in September 2007 and to me is ever so suggestive: a warm dreamlike morning comes back to my mind! / Ah, to think of such mornings … ! And of such light …! Warming your heart and your soul. Not an everyday experience, certainly not, but they shall come again! This image shows the lights remembering the Twin Towers over Manhattan on the 11th September 2007. The sombre air over the city lightens as the night descends and the beauty of the lights is exposed. The City awakes from melancholy and the streets have an electric feel as the inhabitants wander and wonder at the display.
Autumn inspired portrait.
A portrait version of this shot These are 300 year old beach trees and getting to the end of their natural life. When touring around Northern Ireland we were lucky enough to see a couple of photos of this place and eventually managed to find a toutrist info person that knew where they were. So with the sun low in a September sky we headed out and found possibly the most stunning bit of road I have ever been on in my life! Sony Alpha A200 18mm

/ “Fires of September” is part of the Fall Landscape Series...one of my early sketches of unknown origin, turned into a new painting… Watercolour on Arches… This is for my great friend KJ who just now reminded me about the existence of this song…...it’s the theme from the movie “A Summer Place”... Try to remember the kind of September / When life was slow and oh, so mellow. / Try to remember the kind of September / When grass was green and grain was yellow. / Try to remember the kind of September / When you were a tender and callow fellow. / Try to remember, and if you remember, / Then follow. Try to remember when life was so tender / That no one wept except the willow. / Try to remember when life was so tender / That dreams were kept beside your pillow. / Try to remember when life was so tender / That love was an ember about to billow. / Try to remember, and if you remember, / Then follow. Deep in December, it’s nice to remember, / Although you know the snow will follow. / Deep in December, it’s nice to remember, / Without a hurt the heart is hollow. / Deep in December, it’s nice to remember, / The fire of September that made us mellow. / Deep in December, our hearts should remember / And follow. Listen to NANA and Harry…. / Or here by THE LETTERMEN /
September remembers. It looks back at summer, and its waters hold the laughter and the happiness while breathing calm as lake empties of summer visitors and, again, the swans, the geese, the coots and loons swim easy. The park of the country-house of Groeneveld near Baarn is a wonderful place for walks. And for taking pictures. So many of you will know parts of the park by now from my shots. / Indeed this morning in late September was very much worth going there again. Indeed I wish I could be there now! Given that President OBAMA is stepping into power on January 20th--I thought a re-release was in order—this issue WILL NOT GO AWAY! / Below are my original words: 7 years ago, this morning, on September, 11, 2001--I sat there, with all of you, as we collectively went through the deepest levels, of National and Personal: / Mourning-Rage-Screaming-Crying-Shock-Vengence-Hate-Loss-Amazement-Partriotism…we all dealt with it then-and deal with it now—in our own ways. That day and the subsequent years of “fallout” have taken a toll on our Great Nation; for Good, for Bad, and for Ugly. MAY WE NEVER FORGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!—-alllllllll of it. I have created many works of art about September 11th, but this one seems to be the Best one to share with you today; on this anniversary day. May we never forget the thousands who were lost then--and the thousands who are BEING LOST today. And--may our leaders find any way it takes—to stop this running tally. I truly pray, that this image of mine, will help HEAL our National, Wounded Hearts, and in any small way, help to bring comfort to us all. And, when I hear folks talking trash about America, I always know this—-they have never seen what I have seen. I always wish I could instantly translate them to perhaps, one of the thousands of flithy tin, or cardboard shelters of Haiti, where many families have to sleep on the ground, in shifts, and fight for anything they might be able to scratch up to eat. And, see the children gathered around the garbage heaps, to find food next to the pigs. Or, mothers washing their babies in stagnant poors, of contaminated runoff waters. If you don’t like it here-———then PLEASE LEAVE! I REFUSE TO FORGET 911. GOD BLESS MY BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY! I AM STILL PROUD TO BE CALLED AN AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Twin Towers WTC in New York City photographed in September 2000. Nothing more needs to be said except that they were iconic and nobody will ever forget the outrage of the following year. I do not support the war on terror as it is happening but this is not the site for political debate. I loved their symmetery and the incredible sense of mans achievement when one simply looked up. The meaning of the word skyscraper multiplied by two. Questions regarding the attacks and our world as we know it. / http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/main.htm
