Anyone who has walked around Circular Quay will have seen this historic old pub near the ferry buildings. The solid structure has been a part of Sydney for many years. Artist Al Benge has the following to say about his original depiction of this inner city landmark. / “I used a free flowing splatter technique to try and convey the busy atmosphere of this part of Sydney. Old historic buildings are always worth recording, and it was a pleasure to portray the well-established lines of the pub with a casual, almost semi-abstract technique.”

like clouds on a windy day. Original acrylic on paper, sold. The inspiration for this painting came one day as I walked up from our local beach. I noticed the way the cloud shadows drifted across the tarmac (road). The light and dark patterns were quite dramatic. The road is lined with hedgegrow and trees. The title was more to do with my humor on the day and the fact that as my attention was drawn to these fleeting light and dark shapes my humor improved. I came home and into the studio and painted this.

mixed media (oil, collage, biro, coloured pencil) on hardboard. This piece is mostly painted, but i used old cds and the metal from tin cans on the face and biro and coloured pencil for a few details. the reason that this is not for sale yet is that i’m not happy with the photograph. i’ll upload a better photograph later

acrylic on canvas – 5ftx4ft (cropped) Capturing a Native Pow-Wow Dancer in his movement and regalia. This is a Fancy Dance where they can improvise their ‘steps’ as long as they keep in time with the drums and end exactly when they do. These are huge competitions with thousands present and thousands at stake for the prize money.

You can choose from any of my images. / Rudolf Koppitz (January 4, 1884 – July 8, 1936) was a Czechoslovak photographer, often credited as Viennese or Austrian, and photo-secessionist whose work is seen as maintaining the photographic style of pictorialism well past its heyday in light of the straight photography and modernist movements in photography at that time and was one of the leading representatives of art photography in Vienna between the world wars. Koppitz is best known for his works of the human figure including his iconic Bewegungsstudie, “Motion Study” and his use of the nude in natural settings.
