A date seller in the Medina – Marrakech, Morocco
A wonderful play of natural light, shade and colour in this Blue Foxtail Agave. This photo was taken as is, there are no special effects, lighting or any post processing on this image. It was taken in the gardens in front of St Vincents Hospital in Darlinghurst, Sydney NSW. It is also my most viewed photograph with over 5,400+ views to-date.
A row of various coloured terrace houses in a small lane in Paddington, Sydney Australia.
This is another shot taken on our wee hol. This is from Lanercost Priory. Lanercost Priory is near Brampton which is a short distanc off the A69. Which is also a short distance from Carlisle. Lanercost was visited by William Wallace but it wasn’t a social visit. Now depending on which side of the border your from Mr Wallace may or may not be someone you would hold any respect for. However; Lanercost Priory wasn’t bankrupted by Mr Wallace. That was achieved by King Edward the 1st & he was supposed to be the good guy if you were from the south side. / I met two charming ladies when I was taking this shot, sadly I didn’t get there names. They walked through the shot as it was being taken. As the shutter speed was 3 seconds long they only made a ghost appearance. I took a second shot & this is the 2nd without the ghosts. I deleted the ghost image & now wish I hadn’t. It added to the shot. / One of the ladies produces a church magazine & if the lady in question would like to publish this image let me know. I can send you a low res copy free. / I must also mention Historic England, the lady at the reception was fabulous & enthusiastic. She was very helpful & well informed. She asked me if I was a Pro photographer; I answered honestly & said no. She didn’t ask me if I hoped or aspired to be. /
This cat was a stray cat but found a nice home for herself. Here she was sitting in a box where normally crisps were in. / Photo taken in Malta.
One of a number of predatory water sellers that inhabit the Place de Djemaa el Fna – the main square in Marrakech, Morocco. As in so many Moroccan experiences, dealing with these guys requires a lot of patience and a good sense of humor.

Today I went to visit the portfolios of RedBubble’s top sellers. Namely the top 20 T-shirt sellers and the top 20 wall art sellers. (This ranking did not include self purchases) I found some strong patterns in how these sellers showcase their art online and make use of RedBubble to sell their work. There were exceptions, but I found myself flicking from one portfolio to another nodding my head as the same habits came up again and again. What I didn’t find The best selling artists come from all over the globe, are a variety of ages, and there isn’t a popular genre or medium selling better than others. My very subjective opinion would also politely add that these top sellers come from various skill levels. / / / Lack of Bling You know how some people have large images or animations down the left hand side of their portfolio page? Our best sellers don’t do that. Their portfolios are fairly clean with plenty of white space. / / / Artwork Descriptions Almost all the top sellers have ‘text only’ descriptions. And they simply describe the artwork – what it was inspired by, how it was created etc. Of the handful who have images in their descriptions, they are small detail shots or a photograph of someone holding/wearing the finished product – like buyers booth. / / / Groups Most of the top sellers are in about 5 groups, some are in none, a couple are in 10-ish. None had a huge list a groups. And they all are in groups which are relevant and make sense for their style and medium. / / / Journals About half the top sellers had no journals or very few journals. Which lead me to do some googling. I quickly noticed that several were cleverly blogging elsewhere and participating in other non-art communities to find customers. Why sell your band photos to other photographers when you can sell them to the fans of that band via a music forum? Journals were directly related to their art, exhibitions, initiatives, creative ventures in the real world and insights into how they make their art. I struggled to find non-art themed journals in this group of top sellers. Only one person had a “thanks for the feature” journal on their first page (which quickly got my attention after reading this last week.) / / / Length of Portfolio Some top sellers have less than 10 works and others have more than 10 pages. But the bulk were sitting on around 2-4 pages of work in their portfolio. So what has this taught me about selling on RedBubble? Don’t worry about how my art compares to others Keep my pages clear of clutter, with plenty of white space Use descriptions to describe my work and nothing more If I must use additional pictures, the best kind are photos of people wearing/holding the finished product Being in relevant groups is better than being in lots of groups Journals about my art are the best kind to have Blogging and promoting my art elsewhere is a really good idea I should keep my portfolio short and sweet Jo
Its a fun T-shirt design with a little twist; a parody in fact. / Why not take a look through my other t-shirt designs which includes designs like the one below. /
Here’s the first design I created on this theme with my preferred spelling, the artistic licence version.

It’s a slow day for these Aymara broom sellers in La Paz. Has the global financial crisis reached Bolivia?

I have to be honest & admit I do like tree’s & I do enjoy a good sunrise & sunset. / This artwork contains both & therefore its my kind of image. Hope you all enjoy it too. /
A high dynamic range image of an old derelict shed/shack at Kanmantoo shot from a different angle to another similar shot in my gallery. The image is the result of 3 merged images taken with AEB of 4 and the HDR made using Photomatix Pro. Final processing of the image done in Adobe Photoshop. Back by popular demand. This was the 1st of my T-shirt designs that I ever bought shortly after I joined redbubble way back in December 2007 & I wear it a lot. I decided to bring it back because its due a replacement. The original is still very wearable but I wanted to update & improve the design. Its a parody of the Honda Type R logo with my own wording below which reads ‘Type R everybody’s favourite red letter day’ Its an exaggerated cartoon style version of the design. Anyone who loves the Honda Type R will love this T-shirt, I know I do. / 03/05/09
