Another self portrait. Ya…I’m desperate for models. / Took a little work to mount the camera in the dash and eliminate any shake for the multiple exposure. A freshly paved road also helped! / If you can’t laugh at yourself…who can you laugh at? I meant to add this and forgot. This was my inspiration… My pappy said “Son your gonna drive me to drinkin’ / If you don’t stop driving that hot rod Lincoln” Have you heard the story of the hot rod race / Where the Fords and the Lincolns were setting the pace? / Well that story is true cause I’m here to say / I was driving that model A. It’s got a Lincoln motor and its really souped up / And that model A body makes it look like a pup / It’s got eight cylinders, uses them all / It’s got overdrive, just won’t stall It’s got a four barrel carb, and dual exhaust / With foureleven gears you can really get lost. / It’s got safety tubes, but I ain’t scared / Breaks are good, tires fair Pullin out of San Pedro late one night / With the moon and the stars just shinin bright / We was headed up grapevine Hill / Passing cars like they was standing still All of a sudden, in the wink of an eye / A Cadillac sedan passed us by / I said “Boys this ones marked for me” / But by then the tail lights was all you could see Now the fellas rid me for being behind / So I thought I’d let that Lincoln unwind / Took my foot of the gas and man alive / I shoved it on down into over drive Wound it up to 110 / My speedometer said I hit top end / My foot was glued like lead to the floor / That’s all there is, and there ain’t no more Now the boys all thought that I’d lost my sense / Those telephone poles looked like a picket fence / They said “Slow down, I see spots!” / The lines on the road just looked like dots Took a corner, side swiped a truck / Crossed my fingers just for luck / My fenders was clicking the guard rail post / The guy beside me was white as a ghost We had smoke coming from out of the back / When I started gainin on that Cadillac / I knew I could catch him, I thought I could pass / But don’t you know by then we’d be low on gas I had flames coming from out of the side / Feel the tension, man what a ride / I said “Look out boys, I’ve got a license to fly” / And that Caddy pulled over and let us by All of the sudden she started knocking / Down in the dips she started rocking / I looked in the mirror. Red lights were blinking / The cops was after my Hot Rod Lincoln – Damn The arrested me and they put me in jail / Called my pappy to throw my bail / And he said “Son, you’re going to drive me to drinkin’ / If you don’t stop driving that Hot Rod Lincoln” *lyrics by All

Same view everyday. Wish they’d point me somewhere interesting. I mean… how hard would it be to leave my frame pointed at some wonder of the world? But no.. I have to spend my life looking at the kitchen. I rarely bother to look out now. Hardly seems worth the effort.

  • "Oops.."
    by Birgitta

    US$4.99–US$114.00

I wish I could say that this photo was easy to do..but it wasn’t! / While it appears that I simply smeared my lipstick, it’s a bit more complicated than that. I started out by converting it to a B&W-blue filter-then curving it using the red channel only. I then blew it up to about 300%..and airbrushed the dark red paint on..(no less than 200 agonizing brush strokes!) / It was grueling-but fun. (And thanks to everyone who’s commented, favourited & purchased this! Means a lot to me. :) Stats: / * 263 comments * 141 favoritings * 6202 views / >Triple Feature< / Featured in: Featured Art & Photography / Featured in: The Eyes Have It / Featured in: Sold! / / sold: mounted + laminated prints To be featured in Real Magazine -October of / 2009. / / Framed Print / / / / Card / / / / /

  • I copyright 2009 / quote by Marilyn Monroe / of course if you didn’t recognise her you have been living under a rock. I did this shoot in college for a portrait project where we had to recreate famous portraits. I chose to remake this one http://web.naplesnews.com/ceandw/122006/images/cal_MarilynBallerina.jpg / I got help with the lighting set up then I adjusted it and took it. My second time with studio lighting !! I got my make up done in the makeup department and the wig there to. / I wanted to do it properly. / canon 1000d

  • for the 365 project

  • I have been contemplating it for some time, I guess just trying to brush up on my skills first. / I believe that every artist must do at least one self portrait, so I figured my first would have to incorporate my first love, music into the theme. / This was somewhat of a challenge, firstly because this is the way people see me, whereas I am so used to seeing a mirrored version of myself; my eyebrow ring is on the right in the mirror and my scar on my chest from when both my lungs collapsed when I was 16, etc. / Also I realised that I hate drawing bloody guitars! the strings, frets and tiny numbers on the knobs are way too detailed even for my pool of patience. The guitar in Elvis Costello wasn’t so bad because i only had to do a tiny section of two of the strings, but ah oh well, these are the challenges we artists have to conquer in order to improve :) / I took my own reference photos using the timer on my digital camera, and lots of different poses. By The way, for those who have asked, yes I AM in a band. / Straitjacket Fashion Completed 10th Jan, 2009 / Graphite pencils, 2H, HB, 2B, 6B, 8B on Reeves White Paper, A3
