Some say love, it is a river / That drowns the tender reed. / Some say love, it is a razor / That leaves your soul to bleed. / Some say love, it is a hunger, / An endless aching need. / I say love, it is a flower, / And you it’s only seed. It’s the heart, afraid of breaking, / That never learns to dance. / It’s the dream, afraid of waking, / That never takes a chance. / It’s the one who won’t be taken, / Who cannot seem to give. / And the soul, afraid of dyin’, / That never learns to live. When the night has been too lonely, / And the road has been too long, / And you think that love is only / For the lucky and the strong, / Just remember in the winter / Far beneath the bitter snows, / Lies the seed, that with the sun’s love, / In the spring becomes the rose. / Inspired by: Bette Midler
She brightly shines amongst the rest / Had from the start, my heart possessed / A lucky man, I’m truly blessed / My precious prize in life’s contest / / Amongst all others that did surround / From sea so vast it does confound / One in a billion, I have found / To give my life, meaning profound / / This artwork was inspired by my beautiful wife, who has always put up with me and loved me unconditionally. She is my ‘One In A Billion’, although, I’m sure that it is much higher number in reality than a billion. :) / / This was created in both PSP8 and Photoshop. I drew up the original vector heart in PSP8, and then used that to make the masks and composites in Photoshop. It was done trying to give it kind of an ‘art-deco’ feel to it. The cutaway below shows the central heart in better detail, as it is hard to see otherwise. / / / I am pleased and honored that this artwork has won first place for the Drop Of Color challenge in the Abstract Digital Art and Writing Group for December 2008. To be awarded this honor by your peers, many of them you consider far more talented than yourself, is indeed the greatest of compliments. / / /
One of my favorite types of horse, a pinto, captured in North Idaho. Shot this with my Kodak Easy Share camera, brought it into Photoshop, added a layer and desaturated it, then went in with a soft eraser tool and revealed just the subject I wanted colored. Merged all layers. Also clone stamped out some telephone wires that bugged me. This artwork was featured / February 8th, 2009 in the group Selective Coloring / January 29th, 2009 in the group The Woman Photographer / Original Image – Painted Horse /
It was a cold, chilly winter day when the “E” train pulled into the station, as it has for almost a century . Arriving passengers were greeted by a ghost who silently raised his hat as the train passed by. As soon as the train came to rest, the ghost vanished just like he has in years passed. Many locals suggest that the good ghost wards off the evil onboard this train. Paranormal? I’d say so. / Try viewing image in large! Multiple images were used to create this image, which was created via multiple layers, some selective coloring, dodge & burn technique as well as the Redfield Fractalius filter was applied. Images were taken with both the Nikon D200 & D300. My art with 1000+ views

Self Revelator, Gillian Welch. / “Leaving the valley and fucking out of sight / I’ll go back to Cali where I can sleep out every night / and watch the waves and move the fader. / Queen of fakes and Imitators / Times’ the revelator.” / ~ / God, what a strange time. Living in the middle of the Desert, 2006 – thought i was in love, and i guess i was. He was so often just…not there. Spent a lot of my time waiting…just waiting. / Back was hurting a lot, but the cane was only a once-in-awhile thing. So i concentrated on trying to fool myself into thinking i could have the picket-fence, the man, the kid…but all i had was my ambivalence, his absence, a teenager i couldn’t talk to anymore and a barren yard full of sun-scorched weeds. All my photos from this time, i looked a little lost. / All i wanted to find at the time was him. / But it was just me who was lost. / And he was gone, doing all his searching in the mountains of New Mexico. And i was just…gone. / Sometimes, when you lie to yourself, you get exactly what you deserve… This is where you’d find me, most evenings – looking out the back door, out at the Sandia mountains…waiting. / Haven’t been in love like that since. Hopefully, never will again…
