Two Brighton Deck chairs sit with great vantage spot of a incoming storm front. I love the moody feel to this shot. I must thank Matthew Bonnington for his help in bringing the most out of this shot, his help with some new processing techniques really add impact to this shot.

Music: Star Wars – Soundtrack This is a simple case of “Oh lets see if that is going to work out”. 5 exposures at 2EV difference. HDR Tone Mapping in Photomatix. No Photoshop. I thought the flare might come up nice after processing, but I never imagined it to be like this. I hope you like it.

I was visiting with my aunt and uncle, the family gathered, waiting to attend funeral services for a beloved uncle that has passed away. The night before we did our best to enjoy each other’s company and joke around like we usually do, but mostly we were just trying to get through the night so we could say our goodbyes in the morning. I saw these antique children’s chairs that my aunt had and decided to spend some time taking photos of them to get my mind off of things. I brought the chair out to the garage so that the smooth, rich wood would be in stark contrast to the rough, stained concrete floor. A running theme throughout my photography is viewing objects from new perspectives, so as I stood on a ladder that I found and tried taking photographs without falling, my uncle walked by and laughed at me. “You’re taking a picture of a chair?” he said. I told him “You just wait – this will be a masterpiece!” but I am pretty sure he didn’t believe me. The photograph turned out exactly the way I had envisoned, a sense of being in a room but high above it like an omnipotent source, alone, expecting someone to be there who isn’t, a bit of a faded memory. This fine art piece hangs on my own wall, and I smile when I see it for it is a reminder of the family I love. A pair of street lamps I passed today resting after a long night’s work. They are humble folk who just need the occasional seat to help us out. Also part of the series of T-shirts:

The home of cricket in dense winter fog…. now I know why cricket is a summer sport, you’d be hard pressed to face Brett Lee from the Pavillion end when you can’t even see the bowler on his approach!

My husband and son, even his (louis) silhouette is cute! This was taken on Fathers Day – quiet fitting I thought… I also took this one of our daughter and the dog at the same time. /

Twilight storm at Lido Key beach. The two brightest celestial bodies are the Moon and Venus. Because of the storm most people cleared the beach, but because of the storm, I was drawn towards it. I didn’t modify the picture except to increase the brightness and contrast a bit, and remove camera artifacts. I’m not too good at making photos look more ‘artistic’, but for landscape, atmospheric, and flower photos, I think I prefer the more natural look. Unfortunately, I did not get another good shot of lightning that evening – I forgot to bring my tripod, so the photos prior to this one are too blurred. I captured this clear shot by setting my camera on a beach chair, and propping up the lens with one of my flip-flops. And this stroke of lightning was the last significant one. But I’m sure grateful for it! / (Photo taken on July 17, 2007)
