Ducks In The Woods /
This is the spring counterpart to my other Barred owl called Winter’s watchman Taken in the same general area in April 2005. You can tell he was just in the swampy water below, either bathing or chasing after a snake to eat, by the wetness present on his feathers.
My backyard pond, frozen solid. This pond is home to nutria, beavers, ducks, herons, and other water loving birds.
“You looking at me?” Makes for a great and comical Christmas card – a robin with a definite personality!
Sanctuary – Middle English, from Old French sainctuarie, from Late Latin s?nctu?rium, from Latin s?nctus, sacred, sanctify. Sacred place, especially the most sacred part of a sacred place. In ancient times and in the Middle Ages, a sanctuary served as asylum, a place of refuge for persons fleeing from violence or from the penalties of the law. To injure a person in sanctuary or to remove him from it forcibly was considered sacrilege. In Egypt the temples of Osiris and Amon offered the right of sanctuary. Under the Greeks all temples enjoyed this privilege, and certain ones, like the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, were known throughout the Mediterranean world as a haven for fugitives. In Rome fugitive slaves often sought sanctuary. Christian churches were given the right of sanctuary by Constantine I. Abuses of sanctuary, tending to encourage crime, led to its curtailment and abolition. Modern penal codes no longer recognize the right of sanctuary.

A group of cold pigeons on a snowy day in the city of Toronto Canada sitting together on a wire fence trying to keep warm. There are too many pigeons in the City.
I’ve been looking for some Amanita muscaria without success but I thought I might just put up a few other “guys” I found while looking. These tiny guys were growing out of a recently fallen old stag (dead tree). Not colourful but cute just the same. / 307 Viewings in Nov 2009 Canon EOS 40D / Aperture-Priority AE / Shutter Speed 0.4 / Aperture Value 22.0 / Spot Metering / ISO Speed 800 / Lens EF100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Featured in / Forests / Fungilicious / Nature’s Wonders / Top Shelf Wildlife & Nature Art / Extreme Close-Ups
This is another angle my wife Camellia did of corner rock creek. I think she really captured the moment.

I always wanted a “classic” kind of Elk shot, where one can see the steam coming out of their nose and mouth after the Bugle, with snow falling and such, and I think I finally was able to get it ! He gave us a lot of good shots, I will say that! Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado Minolta 5D & Tamron 200-400mm lens

Digital art inspired by my love of nature, trees, birds and of course, bright vivid color. Created in GIMP; layers upon layers of grungy textures, my own built library of digital colors and my own eagle brush I made myself by drawing and painting a bird, then scanning it, taking it to gimp and making it into a brush. (There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes of my works.) Most all of my digital pieces are 20 layers or MORE….some up to 50 layers (I’ve had one with around 70 layers in the past!), depending on the design and the effect I’m working to achieve. Here’s how it looks matted and framed: /
