A different perspective on the world. Also a nice seasonal picture. It’s a picture of glass globes that have been hanging in the front window at home and I took the picture through them into the winter wonderland outside. It’s not a recent picture, it was taken two, maybe three winters ago. Thought I’d put it up and let it get some exposure! I’m really happy with how it turned out! I hope you enjoy this piece. Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. Canon 400D / Iceberg season is offically upon us for another year. This was the first Iceberg of the season for me. It was a very foggy and drizzly day, but these bergs were well worth venturing out in the weather. / / From the Northern tip of Labrador down to the eastern coast of Newfoundland, the sea that pounds and caresses these shores is nicknamed Iceberg Alley. Bergs born 10,000 years ago on the Greenland icecap dance along the coast and far out to sea, propelled unpredictably by wind and tide, tumbling, twirling, and breaking into fantastic shapes before melting in the warm waters of the gulf stream. / / An iceberg’s journey down Iceberg Alley begins once it breaks off from the edges of Greenland’s glaciers. Dropping into the ocean, it is gripped by the Labrador Current and carried through the dark ocean along the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador. In the past, during certain times of the year, the alley has been thick with the largest and most beautiful icebergs found anywhere in the world. I was having fun experimenting one night on our street as I loved how the lights reflected off the snow on our street, these log homes with big windows really allowed this scene to come out. Late afternoon on a snowy day, County Derry, N. Ireland. Taken with a Canon EOS 50, Fuji Reala iso 100, +2 exposure compensation. Scanned, resized then post processed with levels and curves and a hint of usm. The day I took this photo, a snowy fog came down, and I lost all sense of directions. I wandered about for ages, very cold, and getting really scared.

Filling up a glass of water and noticed this out of the kitchen window. Literally ran outside with a t-shirt and slippers on to get this before it went. First few shots were a golden amber in color then it went to this before it disappeared. Only snapped about 30 bracketed shots before it was gone. Gonna go a repot my orchid while this is uploading (and I finished it, thanks dial-up). Hope you like it. Please critique… print available here and on my website.
