This is the spring counterpart to my other Barred owl called Winter’s watchman Taken in the same general area in April 2005. You can tell he was just in the swampy water below, either bathing or chasing after a snake to eat, by the wetness present on his feathers.
Falls on the small mountain river. / Sold a mounted print January 2009 through RedBubble.

” ~ For My Friend Byron ~ 11” / / ~ In Loving Memory of your Mother ~ / / The long winter has passed, and it’s such a joy to see the forest come alive with new buds, and the Dogwoods in bloom. I find myself strolling along through the forest gazing at these blossoms as they brighten up the early spring sky. Native Dogwoods are small shrubs varying in size, and height that thrive under Arkansas hardwood forest. The blooms are approx 1 inch in diameter. Blooms in mid-May. / / If you would you like to ADD YOUR OWN WORDS to create a personal sentiment to this as a greeting card, please / Contact Me / I will make it personal from YOU, to YOUR friends. / / FEATURED IN SPRING BLOOMS 1 24 009
After I demonstrated a few wave painting techniques, I later thought to join them up into a painting! A Spontaneous watercolour! Watercolour 14” x 10” on Bockingford rough 140lb. So far, nobody has spotted the little men in white shirts, clinging for life, to the torn-off mast (left side of painting). I’ve entered this into Impressionism Cafe,‘seascapes’

I made the initial image using a site program called The Scribbler. Go and google it! It’s great fun! Then, I colored it, layered it, reshaped it to my whim, etc. through the use of Corel Photo-Paint.
Slipping the truck into four wheel drive, we drove off the highway onto a gravel pullout, climbed and topped the hill overlooking this beautiful valley. I was so amazed and surprised as one cannot see this view from the highway. It was my first glimpse of the beautiful Matanuska Glacier. This shot was taken as it was raining. Traveling south from the Alaska interior, just before passing through the Chickaloon-K’Nik Nelchina Trail System on the Glenn Highway, one enters a fascinating vista of the Chugach Mountains and one of the largest accessible valley glaciers in Alaska, the Matanuska Glacier. Fireweed in foreground with brilliant colours. Fireweed in Alaska is nature’s seasonal gauge. When the fireweed blooms top out, and blows seed, winter is only weeks away. Nikon D60 + OE There are about 100–110 species of Fuchsia. The great majority are native to South America, but with a few occurring north through Central America to Mexico, and also several from New Zealand, and Tahiti. One species, Fuchsia magellanica, extends as far as the southern tip of South America, occurring on Tierra del Fuego in the cool temperate zone, but the majority are tropical or subtropical. Most fuchsias are shrubs from 0.2–4 m (8 in-13 ft) tall, but one New Zealand species, Kotukutuku (Fuchsia excorticata), is unusual in the genus in being a tree, growing up to 12–15 m (39-49 ft) tall. / Fuchsia leaves are opposite or in whorls of 3–5, simple lanceolate and usually have serrated margins (entire in some species), 1–25 cm long, and can be either deciduous or evergreen, depending on the species. The flowers are very decorative, pendulous “eardrop” shape, borne in profusion throughout the summer and autumn, and all year in tropical species. They have four long, slender sepals and four shorter, broader petals; in many species the sepals are bright red and the petals purple (colours that attract the hummingbirds that pollinate them), but the colours can vary from white to dark red, purple-blue, and orange. A few have yellowish tones, and recent hybrids have added the colour white in various combinations. The ovary is inferior and the fruit is a small (5–25 mm) dark reddish green, deep red, or deep purple, edible epigynous berry, containing numerous very small seeds. Many people describe the fruit as having a subtle grape flavor spiced with black pepper.

a Christmas tearjerker old Amsterdam style!
They call me The Wild Rose / But my name was Eliza Day / Why they call me it I do not know / For my name was Eliza Day From the first day I saw her I knew she was the one / She stared in my eyes and smiled / For her lips were the colour of the roses / That grew down the river, all bloody and wild When he knocked on my door and entered the room / My trembling subsided in his sure embrace / He would be my first man, and with a careful hand / He wiped out the tears that ran down my face They call me The Wild Rose / But my name was Eliza Day / Why they call me it I do not know / For my name was Eliza Day On the second day I brought her a flower / She was more beautiful than any woman I’d seen / I said, “Do you know where the wild roses grow, / so sweet and scarlet and free?” On the second day he came with a single red rose / He said: “Give me your loss and your sorrow” / I nodded my head, as I lay on the bed / “If I show you the roses will you follow?” They call me The Wild Rose / But my name was Eliza Day / Why they call me that I do not know / For my name was Eliza Day On the third day he took me to the river / He showed me the roses and we kissed / And the last thing I heard was a muttered word / As he knelt above me with a rock in his fist On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow / And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief / And I kissed her goodbye, said, “All beauty must die” / And I lent down and planted a rose between her teeth They call me The Wild Rose / But my name was Eliza Day / Why they call me it I do not know / For my name was Eliza Day / For my name was Eliza Day / For my name was Eliza Day / / /
