The Bardi people are from the Dampier Peninsula situated around 200 kilometres north-east of Broome, Western Australia. NEVER GIVE UP!!! Miracles do happen! Self-portrait on the Chattahoochee River near the Buford Dam in Cumming, GA. (View larger for full effect…) I was giving God the glory in this self-capture and thanking HIM for bringing me through the most difficult times of my life. I had a mysterious diagnosis for 7+ years. It seemed like I had every test done imaginable… I felt like I was dying, and I almost did a few times. I was at the point where I asked God to either take me up to heaven soon, or give me an ANSWER! It got that bad. I was not living… I was suffering and struggling to hang in there. I gradually grew worse as time passed. Finally, one of the last diagnostic tests performed was an echocardiogram followed by a TEE test. THE discovery was made. I had two heart defects; my surgeon was amazed I was still alive. I just had major heart surgery last year… they stopped my heart, collapsed my lungs, repaired my heart, and after 6 hours in the operating room, I was taken to ICU, and then I woke up. I am here!!! It was a LONG journey, but I made it. I thank God, my family and friends for all of their prayers, and for an amazing cutting edge surgeon! In this time of recovery and healing, my creative outlet has been spent with photography, my true passion! Taken just after a heavy spring down pour, and the bright sun pops from behind a storm cloud. The water was raging, the bluffs wet, and shining in the sun, the light was way too bright for the waterfalls. I shot this on auto, could I have done anything else wrong! LOL! Beautiful Bear River Bird Migratory Refugee, Utah, USA, late Autumn afternoon. As the clouds reflected across the waters and the last rays of sunlight lit up the Wastach Mountains. Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge is a 74,000-acre (299 km2) National Wildlife Refuge in Utah, established in 1927. Leased by the government from private property owners. The refuge encompasses the Bear River and its delta where it flows into the northern part of the Great Salt Lake in eastern Box Elder County. It includes a variety of habitats, such as open water, mudflats, wetlands, and uplands. The refuge hosts millions of migratory birds each year including species such as bald eagle and tundra swan. There are more than 41,000 acres (170 km2) of freshwater wetlands. Though disputed by the Federal and State governments the rights to the land, it was leased from the Knudson Trust, and was eventually purchased for an undisclosed sum. The surrounding lands are occupied by multiple hunting clubs along the migration route, also owned by the Knudson Trust, and much of the income from Ducks Unlimited, Canadian Goose Club and various other groups benefit the restoration of the vast marshland. Starting in 1983, rising floodwaters from the Great Salt Lake severely impacted the refuge. The flooding of the refuge is at the center of Terry Tempest Williams’s noted nonfiction book, Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place. In 2006, a new wildlife education center off Interstate 15 opened to attract visitors once more. / Photo taken by Canon IXUS

“The First Sorrow” talks about the “slow goodbye of the garden”...though Hughes mentions a lily and poppy, not wanting to be too literal, I thought that the seed heads of Honesty painted in a semi-abstract style would express it best...
