Zanzibar, Tanzania Fishermen riding bicicles on the sunrise. This one was actually fun. I was taking a walk with my father in the beach at 6 a.m. and there were these fisherman passing by in bicicles. I took a photo of one isolated, but it didn’t come in perfect. I was looking through the LCD trying to figure out what failed and what was needed to improve it when my father, who was slightly ahead of me but turning backwards shouted: “hey, look, more!” I immediatly turned around, mission-impossible like, ducking a bit, instintively composed the picture and clicked after barely seing these 2 fisherman, all that in a frame of second. Couple seconds after imagine my surprise when I saw that it had come out quite good. At least for me heh.

Taken on Ouaisne Bay, Jersey, CI. The single boat on the water gave the feeling of tranquility. I used a polarizing filter and a graduated grey ND filter 121 to keep the sky. I opened the shutter to 8 seconds. I love this shot. Canon EOS-1Ds Mark ll / 28-300mm IS lens

Nikon D70 I have recently invested in a couple of photography books and the one I am reading now is entitled “The Digital Photographer’s Guide to Filters” by Ross Hoddinott. It is very interesting and I am learning a lot. This is the original without any filters applied. I will also be uploading the same shot with a cooling filter and one with a violet filter.

This image was shot on the west coast of Scotland and looks out over the Firth of Clyde at Dusk. / The colour and the rays of the sun that it created from behind the clouds was something else. / It is always great to get a shot like this, it makes the trip even more worth while. Its a straight shot as well. No HDR or trickery pokery. Canon EOS 400D. 28-80mm. AP mode with tripod, cable release, split angle viewer and polariser filter.
