This is a Nassarius gemmulata, commonly known as the Jewelled Dogwinkle or Dog Whelk. This specimen is 23mm long, a little less than 1”. Nothing has been done to enhance this shell. It is not painted, dyed, carved or polished. It is 100% natural. This pic is one of what I hope to be a significant series of macro images of seashells. Click on “view larger” for a better look :o)

Imani is an enchanting and magical water creature known as a merfaery (merfairy). Her black hair is decorated with a gold headband and starfish. She has a lovely purple bandeau top with golden starfish, magical golden feathery wings with dots, lovely gold tail and fins, and a gold pearl belt. Imani the merfaery is petting her dolphin pet and holding a starfish as they play near the sandy golden ocean floor that is decorated with green seaweed plants, red corals, purple sea urchins that blow bubbles, and lovely seashells of white and brown stripes.

She has a lovely top and magical wings of pink seashells, lovely pink tail and fins, and a pink pearl belt. Ariel the merfaery is petting her dolphin friend and holding a starfish as they play near the sandy golden ocean floor that is decorated with green seaweed plants, red corals, purple sea urchins that blow bubbles, and lovely seashells of white and brown stripes.

A digital macro shot of a water droplet on one of my favourite shells, a paua shell from New Zealand where I found the image of a seahorse amongst the patterns. My first image for Red Bubble.. and yes I need a decent camera! This was shot using an everyday camera.. Canon IXUS 50.
