This was taken about an hour before but the warning of wind, rain and darkness were already present in the early afternoon. • I kept returning to this spot, night after night, sometimes it was raining or misty and other nights were simply ideal though a tad chilly … This spectacular natural rock arch, sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea over thousands of years is well worth visiting. Here you can also observe a colony of New Zealand Fur-seals as they feed, swim and laze on the shore platform below. If you cannot see them you can sure smell them ! • ORIGINAL FOR SALE $899 plus P&H This is the oil painting done from the photograph I took of the same name. Rhyll, Phillip Island, Victoria. I loved the photo so much I just had to paint it and so I used a large canvas (1m x 800) and just went for it! It was a very cathartic process and yielded a great result! Stormy Weather: Etta James

  • I love this area of the beach, so diverse, different rock formations, different water patterns, stunning soft light, sunset is just to the left. The light on this trip was so different to our last trip at Easter, this is July, the light evening and night was so even, at least 70% of my images need very little work. Just one ND filter to tone down the sky. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, ND 8 soft Grad, tripod with weighted bags.

  • “And when the day arrives I’ll become the sky and I’ll become the sea and the sea will come to kiss me for I am going home. Nothing can stop me now.”’ Trent Reznor This image is a tribute to an old friend, Hilton Matthews, who so sadly died earlier this year. It is a gift for his wife, and my closest friend, Sarah. Hilton was a well known sailor on the Isle of Wight, and was one of the true characters of the Fishbourne Sailing Club. He weathered many storms during his life. He would have loved this one! The boat in the image is one which Hilton helped rescue when it ran aground on the rocks. The sky and the seas have been painted, using a variety of brushes in Photoshop CS4. 09/11/09 – 879 Viewings, 217 comments and 79 favourites.
