Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps
“A Touch of Paradise” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Sunrise in tropical Mission Beach, far north Queensland, Australia. “Flamingos walk, and sway in peace / Seeing this, it makes my troubles cease / The sun is hiding, leaving a pink scar / That stretches right across the sky / Thats all weve seen so far / And all I do is look into your eyes / For that special touch of paradise / Just a touch, a touch of paradise / Just a special touch of paradise / You hold my hand, thats when we kiss / And it doesnt take long no, until I get the gist / Of this love that stretches out across the land / Where rainbows flash, as were walking in the sand / And all I do is look into your eyes / A touch of spring, and autumn sweet / Well the trees vibrate when our eyes meet / And I think of all the love that we have been making / You touch my hand and I walk off shaking / And all I do is look into your eyes.” / ~Ross Wilson and G Smith

Winter Storms batter the shores of Elgol , Isle of Skye , Scotland. The mighty Black Cuillin Mountains are seen across the water….some of the most awsome landscape I have tried to Photograph. Some may know the Isle of Skye from scenes in the recent movie Stardust.
The most amazing light fell over Rainbow Bay, QLD at sunset on the 8th of July. The wind dropped to nothing, the swell was glassy and the colours of the sky and water kept growing richer and richer until finally darkness took over. An amazing night to be out walking, surfing or taking snaps…I hope you can get the feel!
Sometimes you get the feeling you might have gotten a bit too close? A wave exploding near Whale cove on the Oregon Coast. Timing is everything I guess!

This is an acrylic canvas painting 20” wide x 23” long of Australian Pelicans. Pelicans are beautiful large Black and White water birds. They have very long beaks that have a small hook on the end and a stretching pouch underneath. There are 7 species of Pelicans in the world. Pelicans fly just above the water’s surface in long lines and never dive. Growing up as a child I can remember my Grandfather singing to us…. “Oh a wonderous bird is the Pelican his beak holds more than his belican!” This was painted as a birthday present for a friend of mine who is turning 50 this weekend and her favourite bird is a Pelican. Shot at Point Hallswell Light on Wellington Harbour, nearly passed this one up till i saw the pink thrown by sunrise, sunrise should be in the middle of the picture just above the lowest white cloud. This is why New Zealand called Aotearoa (land of the long white cloud) there it is, laying low across the tops of the hills and down towards the Hutt Valley. What would have made this shot perfect for me would have been a splash in the foreground, I’ll just have to settle for a great sky :-) Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, ND 8 soft Grad, tripod. Raw files with Active D-Lighting on High. / The Light Catcher
Shot to the left of Fyffe’s House, North Bay at Kaikoura on New Zealand’s South Island. the light started to become more a intense pink as we go closer to sun rise, shot about 10 mins after Dusky Dawn Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND8 grad filter.

Another wonderful and warm winter day it was. We new, there wouldn’t be any clouds this morning but we had some ideas where to go to and make the best out of it….and we shot until 11.10am. Oh well, we had some breakfast in between. / I actually got inspired by a shot posted by Jen some time ago and instantly recognized her “secret” location as I’ve been there before. / What a fantastic day….I hope you all have/had a good weekend too! Now before you stab me I have to tell you that these are 2 exposures 3 seconds apart, and yes…the boat is real. The Waterfalls are from the second shot. DRI? I don’t know…but if you are interested in doing some digital blending try this tutorial… / http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/digital-blending.shtml
A stormy winter’s day on the Norfolk coast. The North Sea is an unfashionable sea… cold and invariably grey/brown (its not dirty though, its opacity is due to silt in suspension), it is not full of cool surfing culture and doesn’t have exotic sunsets. These are just some of the reasons why I like it :) / ps you might be wondering if I got wet taking this; the answer is inevitably ‘yes’! Featured in the SEA group
