Fleetwood is located on the Fylde peninsula, eight miles (13 km) north of Blackpool, on the western side of the mouth of the River Wyre. The town itself is on a peninsula, almost two miles (3 km) wide, bounded to the west by the Irish Sea, to the north by Morecambe Bay, and to the east by the River Wyre. The light was changing every minute. I climbed over some huge rocks to get into a great position to take some surfing shots, when suddenly this huge cloud covered up the sun. Suddenly the beautiful light illuminating the waves the surfers were riding was gone. I looked to my left and noticed the light here. Quickly, I grabbed my stuff and setup this shot…..only got one frame, because soon after this the light here was also gone. 16”x 12” Watercolour painting on cold pressed paper of the sun setting from Long Island, Whitsundays. This painting is a memory of a trip my husband and I took earlier this year to the beautiful island. There were many breathtaking sunsets, with amazing rainbow colours and this was just one of them. the glow of the night / is such a sight / shadows approaching over the land / painting the sky with a rainbow wand….

It was used as a port for slave ships and cotton ships but its importance declined as other ports such as Lancaster were opened up.

Kawhia is home to two sacred trees. Legend has it the first waka carrying Tainui people from Hawaiiki was tied to one of them 800 years ago, and a Maori princess bedded down in a cave beneath the other. But local iwi disagree on which honour belongs to which tree. My husband noticed me working on this shot and said excitedly ‘That’s the pohutukawa the first waka came to”. Friends specially made this when i was feeling so lonely that i even didnt thought of keeping any human figure in this lonely view..however i tried to portray a blend of emotional emptyness with shades of blue & creamson flickering in sky with alone standing high & tall piece of rock symbolising how one can feel lonely and deserted even if being in the middle of so much water and colourful skies above.
