  • Dawn at Garie Beach in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. / Being near an international airport is a bugger for night shots but it does tend to make the dawns just that much more spectacular. This is the vapour trail from a dawn takeoff. I like the way the sun looks anchored by its own light while the light from the vapour trail soars. / What a magic morning this was. Got a bunch of shots I was happy with and then after taking them I decided to wander over to the rock platform just next to the sun in this shot to watch the rest of the sunrise. There were about a dozen fishermen silhouetted against this sun with orange waves breaking over the rock platform in front of them. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better two huge whales surfaced right in front of where I was sitting – about 100m offshore. Everyone stopped what they were doing and just watched their graceful rise and fall through the water, spouting their breath mist against the dawn. It was actually good to have the camera packed away and just to sit and watch.

  • / . / Please view large photo to appreciate panorama fully / . / This is a panorama taken on the same night of my other photos “Luna Over Luna Park”, ““By Request””, and “Luna Harbours”. The photos were taken in quite quick succession. I attempted to combine the full moon, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park. You might be interested in viewing the other photos because one is in Portrait, two are in Landscape, and this one PANORAMA. It’s amazing how a similar subject can be photographed in slightly different ways, and produce different results. I will interested in knowing which of the four is you favourite !

On the last night we stayed at the beautiful Tin Mine Cove and witnessed a gorgeous sunset followed by this lovely post sunset glow. At the time I was so busy taking the photo I didn’t actually realize that I was taking a shot of two boats mored side by side and only clicked the next morning after talking to the yachty of the second boat (they had dinner together then mored apart for the night). The island in the background is called Doughboy Island.
