I finally got to paint this from my digital manipulation, Don’t Give Up Searching . I’m so pleased with the result. I used a few different textures and oil paint and made the eye brown rather then blue so that the image was unified in pallet to suit a college project so that I could paint this particular piece without abandoning duty.

...if only they grew on trees… Winner in Challenge 20 at the Challenge Cafe :) I was so flattered this week to have Stacey Yount send me a Bubblemail telling me that this artwork had inspired her to write a poem for a husband. She even bought my artwork as a card and is going to write the poem inside and give it to her husband!!! LOVE IT! I think it matches the image perfectly and she has kindly given me permission to display it here. It is so exciting to collaborate with someone so talented (and she is a lovely person too). Another photo manipulation, this one was inspired by a situation my friend was in, I decided to cheer him up with a digital present. It’s about not giving up of search for truelove/happiness. The face might be rusting away but it’s still looking, still hoping. / Currently working on an oil painting of this with brown eye colouring rather than blue for a monochromatic look. See this in Oils! This Piece has been nominated to be showcased in Pay It Forward / by Celia Coulter and this is what they had to say about your image: ‘Why do I love it, I guess the textures, the colours and for whatever undefinable reason that the artwork inspires a sense of wonder in me.’

Midnight Blues is from a painting i did recently on Arches Aquarelle Paper 56×76cm, a mixed media production, utilising inks, pastels, acrylics, charcoals, found objects such as string and fabric….and the most beautiful gold paint which gives the guitar it’s lustre BOATS & BIRDS by Gregory and the Hawk If you be my star / I’ll be your sky / you can hide underneath me and come out at night / when I turn jet black and you show off your light / I live to let you shine / I live to let you shine but you can skyrocket away from me / and never come back if you find another galaxy / far from here with more room to fly / just leave me your stardust to remember you by if you be my boat / I’ll be your sea / a depth of pure blue just to probe curiosity / ebbing and flowing and pushed by a breeze / I live to make you free / I live to make you free but you can set sail to the west if you want to / and past the horizon till I can’t even see you / far from here where the beaches are wide / just leave me your wake to remember you by if you be my star / I’ll be your sky / you can hide underneath me and come out at night / when I turn jet black and you show off your light / I live to let you shine / I live to let you shine but you can skyrocket away from me / and never come back if you find another galaxy / far from here with more room to fly / just leave me your stardust to remember you by / stardust to remember you by Midnight Blues is from the Inspired Series by Karin Taylor, during the painting of this, i was strongly influenced by one of my favourite songs “Boats and Birds” by Gregory and the Hawke, as well as my favourite Australian artist, Brett Whitely, longing to capture something of the wonderful curves he created in his works. It has a dark and sombre feeling, much like how i was feeling at the time i created her. I used to laugh and carry on that my thoughts and my moods could ever be conveyed through a painting, and it was just silly that people reckoned they did so, but just look at me now….i cannot seem to prevent it happening these days!! lol…that’ll teach me to scoff :)

‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Nancy, Patsy, Ellen and Red Dog is a mixed media production. I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper. The original painting was just auctioned for charity recently. This work was also inspired by the _‘Legend of Red Dog aka The Pilbara Wanderer’, as is ‘Where is Red Dog’. Red Dog was an adventurous dog who seemed to belong to an entire community. / When his soulmate John died, Red Dog searched for him for the rest of his days, that’s loyalty for you! This painting depicts the time Red Dog’s search for John took him all the way from the dusty outback to Cottesloe Beach, with the girls from his hometown hot on his tail…... If you look closely you can see the tips of Red Dog’s ears way out past the breakers!
