A stained glass window in the Ramsden building in Huddersfield. The Ramsden building was officially opened in July 1883 by the Duke of Somerset, father-in-law of Sir John William Ramsden, landowner of most of Huddersfield , including the building’s site. On the facade of the building were carved the Ramsden coat of arms together with the arms of the three principal parties to the enterprise: the Clothworkers’ Company of the City of London, the Borough of Huddersfield and Thomas Brooke (later Sir Thomas), head of the textile firm of John Brooke and Sons, Armitage Bridge.

Just one of a series of images where I have been capturing the daily life of folk, in the back alley ways of Hua Hin. Often shooting through open doors or windows, there is a veritable maze of very narrow pathways and alleys which criss-cross the city. One of those occasions where I force myself out of my comfort zone and wander places I normally would not. See all the series here Also, part of a series on Thai Faces and Daily Life. I painted this in 2007 for my mother. She makes purses and often stays up late so she can finish her projects without any distractions. This painting now hangs in my parents’ dining room where she sews.

Ah, how time flies! This picture dates back to Christmas of 1963. I was 6 years old and my brother, Chuck, was 9. We are pictured here with our Great Grandmother, Nana, AKA, Elizabeth Darlington Walter, when we lived in Dilworthtown, Pennsylvania. My Nana was an incredible seamstress. To this day, I still have a beautiful old table cloth that she carefully stitched into beautiful patterns, that would make great fractal art! In addition, I have a whole boxful of hankerchiefs. placemats and other various things that she handcrafted. I’m not sure, but it is more than likely that the clothes I am wearing in this picture were made by Nana, as she used to make me fringed dresses and all kinds of outfits. In my bedroom, I have a slip hanging on an old wood hanger that belonged to my Grammy, Nana’s Daughter, which I cherish, because it is full of lace and so intricate. I also have my Mom’s old Shirley Temple Doll, who is wearing a dress and even lacy underwear that Nana made for my Mom. Unfortunately, Mom decided to cut Shirleys locks off, however, I have styled her hair for her, so she looks a little bit better! Nana was quite a fiesty woman and lived to be 93 years old. “I say what I mean and mean what I say,” would be a good description of Nana. About a month ago, I went and pulled up the grass that was covering her grave along with all of my other relatives in Friend’s Cemetary in West Chester, Pennyslvania. It felt good to do that, because I cherish those who were once in my life. They all taught me so much when I was just a wee little tot! Their spirit remains within me, strong and lively. I feel very spiritual and at great peace when I am at the graveyard, in the quiet and stillness of Mother Nature, which surrounds their gravestones. This one is for you dear Nana!
This girl tucked some embroidered fabric around her legs and sat snipping the extra thread ends. She worked in the yard of her house where her mother and aunt did embroidered piecework.
Self portrait for my Life Drawing I class. I know it doesn’t quite look like me, but I only worked on this during the early early hours of 3-4am due to my monstrous amount of work my last quarter of uni, so I had to make do. Chalk pastels on 30”x40” black Fabriano pastel paper.

There’s just something about buttons that we love so we’ve designed a t-shirt featuring one of our all-time favourite objects. This is our humble homage to the wonderful button, one of the greatest inventions known to man and womankind. These particular buttons look almost transluscent and are in almost every variation on the colours of the rainbow.

While in Ireland we visited the Aran Islands, where there were many old houses like this one, some overgrown by flowers and trees. You could trace the lives of people who had lived there before by some of the details that remained, like the knitting needles on the windowsill in this house.
