night night.. this lucky thing was snoozing in the evening sun on San Christobal, Galapagos Islands. topping up his tan no doubt?
I’m ending the Alaska series with two photos of the one animal we were able to photograph before our cruise ended so unexpectedly…the sea lion, actually, make that plural, as in, a lot! Most of the sea lions were lying on rocks and I have to say this, they looked like large slugs! I did photograph a couple of sea lions actually doing something besides lying on a rock. The sea lion who is the subject of this photo looks like he’s on watch for potential dangers while his fellow sea lions sleep.

The sea lions camped out in PIER 39’s West Marina in San Francisco, USA, have been endearingly coined, “Sea Lebrities”. The boisterous barking pinnipeds started arriving in droves, taking over the docks in January 1990 shortly after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. At first they numbered from 10-50, but due to a plentiful herring supply, available dock space and the marina’s protected environment, the population grew to more than 300 within a few months. Each winter, the population can increase up to 900 sea lions, most of which are male. During the summer months, the sea lions migrate south to the Channel Islands for breeding season, but in recent years a small group stays year-round at PIER 39’s K-Dock. These bull seals seem to know when they’re on to a good thing. A whole heap of them were dozing on the dockside at the fishing harbour in Arica, northern Chile. They seem to spend half their time sleeping and the other half harassing the fishermen for a share of their catch! I was warned not to get too close to these guys as not only are they huge (up to 9 feet long) and heavy, but they are mighty belligerent….... ;o))) And they look so cute! Bless!!! ;o)))

This reminds me of a UN meeting of Sealions. Maybe they are trying to prove a point, like if they all can get along in such a smal space what is stopping us in such a large space like our planet. Spied this motley crew while out whale watching. I love their face and their markings of their skin. Photo taken by Canon IXUS /

When I read the words to this beautiful song, I thought it would be perfect for this image that I created. Four different images used to create the picture that you see, with Photoshop Elements. All taken at Bear Cove, in Port Hardy, BC on Vancouver Island. Words are included with the video! Thank you for viewing always! / / Ordinary Day / These words are my favorite in the song: / _He said take my hand, / Live while you can / Don’t you see your dreams lie right in the palm of your hand And as he spoke, he spoke ordinary words / Although they did not feel / For I felt what I had not felt before / And you’d swear those words could heal. / And as I looked up into those eyes / His vision borrows mine. / And I know he’s no stranger, / For I feel I’ve held him for all of time._
