  • This Image was uploaded for the Phoenix Appeal – a group created to help the victims of the horrible bush fires in Austrailia and will be available for purchase on their page. This little gull reminded me of the book Jonathan Livingston Seagull . It was a favorite of my mother’s and she often quoted it on our many trips to the lake when I was younger. / Here the gull is returning to shore to teach what he has learned to the other’s willing to listen. :) From the book: / “Jonathan Seagull discovered that boredom and fear and anger are the reasons that a gull’s life is so short, and with these gone from his thoughts, he lived a long fine life indeed.” Photo taken at Coney Island, NY

  • Resub of an earlier work I did, and I thought it would be much better in straight b/w (rather than the sepia I tried earlier). I much prefer it this way. My daughter on the beach in Morro Bay, California.

  • Another shot of this beautiful sunrise, taken from Peregian Beach. Managed to catch a small group of Terns in this shot, heading to their feeding grounds for breakfast :) Canon 50D, 85mm, 16:9 crop. Peregian Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Available Large, and best viewed Large!

  • This is Noosa North Shore, looking North towards the coloured sand cliffs, and Double Island Point. The cliffs are on fire, and much of the precious sand dune cover is going to be lost. Errosion is inevitable, possibly from an irresponsible camper lighting fires in a total fire ban, or the back-burning error made by the councils. Smoke can be seen to the left of this shot, limiting visibility along the beach. Still, this is one of the most beautiful places I have been, and the wildlife here, with the many eagles is just magical to witness. Even the pipi birds, gannets, terns, and seagulls (a seagull in flight in this shot) are awe inspiring! Canon 5D Mk II, 35mm, 16:9 crop. Available very large, and best viewed large!

  • Jersey Shore / Mantoloking Beach, New Jersey / Nikon D80 w/24-120mm VR

  • The beautiful Granite Bay in Noosa National Park. The more I visit this place, the more I fall in love with the area. There is always birds flying around, beautiful rock pools, just waiting to be discovered. Some of the larget pools make a lovely smooth base pool too :) Granite Bay, Noosa National Park, Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia. Canon 5D Mk II, 35mm, 16:9 crop. Available very large, and best viewed large.

  • Conditions were far from good when I took this – in fact Betty was having kittens and cursing my hobby for all she was worth! But honestly, what right minded photographer could resist such a scene? And then the icing on the cake was the spray almost enveloping the big Western Gull and giving him a ghost like appearance. / We were at Cape Leeuwin, on the far south westerly corner of Western Australia about 440 kms from Perth, parked beside the water wheel on a gloriously rough and overcast day. The rock with the gulls was right in front of me and I was wondering whether it would be worth a photo because the light was Bad and it was drizzling. Suddenly the sun tried to break through and I was out of the car in a flash – wind or no wind, drizzle or no drizzle, this was my chance. There was no time to erect the tripod – I leaned back on the bonnet of the car and proceeded to fire away and it was only afterwards that I realised I had not given a thought to aperture or shutter settings. However I was on aperture priority so all was well. / How many of us, I wonder, do exactly the same in order to get that one magic photo? Most of us, I bet! / Camera was my Sony Alpha 350 dslr / 55-200 lens with cp filter / Aperture priority – f8. / hand held
