this is a combine image for 2 different seen. mainly using a beach as the main theem however, the colourfull cloud of sunset produced when the painter captured the wonderful sunset when she was out on a swimmingpool, stairing at the shining sky with all different colours of nature.

There is something magical about being on the beach at sunrise. The warm golden rays of the sun revealing contours of the beach sand creates a majestic splendor. This moment in time provided a wonderful reward after a fresh pre-dawn swim and a great opportunity to try my new camera.

“UMBELS #1”...The passage of time & the processes of nature have worked their transforming magic on the refrigerator door (the Japanese call this kind of thing wabi sabi…look it up), in the wall of an abandoned psychiatric hospital at Seacliff, just outside Dunedin, NZ. The resulting subtlety of colour & pattern is contrasted by the harsh, but natural, lines of the umbels. Just out of interest…this is the psych hospital in which Janet Frame (NZ author & poet), the subject of the film “Angel at my Table”, was incarcerated back in the 1950s, having been misdiagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia. She was actually suffering depression, and of course the treatments for schizophrenia hadn’t worked & they were about to get drastic with her. She narrowly avoided a lobotomy when news arrived that she had just won a prestigious literary prize with the publication of her first volume of short stories and the chief psychiatrist decided they must have something wrong and cancelled the operation! GATE HOUSE DOOR ~ ABANDONED PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL SEACLIFF, NZ / This door was in the Gate House at the entrance to the once-grand Seacliff Psychiatric Hospital (when it was first built in 1884 it was known as Seacliff Lunatic Asylum) near Dunedin, NZ. As I ventured onto the grounds of the deserted, desolate site, I was entranced by the strange beauty, almost the delicacy, of the decaying paint work, and it brought to mind the probable feelings of trepidation that those who passed through the gates here once felt. Taken last night at Seacliff Beach in Scotland. Went surfing and had the company of about 4 or 5 dolphins, which was pretty amazing. Then dried off and got this shot. All in all a fantastic evening.
