  • bird in paradise
    by sunset

    US$4.42–US$117.80

been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

  • Daedalus
    by pauldrobertson

    US$3.42–US$91.20

pastels I always thought it was kind of weird how things tended to get named after Icarus and Daedulas got left out a lot. I mean, he was the guy who built the damned wings, after all. The sea where Icarus fell is even called the Icarian. / Daeduls did some other cool stuff to, though some of it is pretty damned weird. His statues were so lifelike they had to be chained down to stop them from running away. He built the palace of the king Minos, sure yeah, palace architect, that’s cool, but: well Poseidon sent a white bull out of the ocean to show how Minos was entitled to rule Crete. He didn’t want to sacrifice the nice shiny bull, which really pissed Poseidon off, so he cursed Minos’ wife, Pasiphae, to fancy the hell out of the bull. I mean sexually. She wanted some bull lovin’. This led her to get Daedalus to make her a FAKE COW to clime into so she could root the bull. Which she did. / Then she gave birth to the Minotaur. Daedalus built the labyrinth for it to hang out in and they fed it with seven boys and seven girls every year. One might think it would have been vegetarian. Theseus came along and killed it, anyway. / Daedalus and Icarus were imprisoned by Minos (for revealing the secret to the labyrinth, one would think he would be more annoyed at the fake cow thing) and it was then that he built the wings and flew away which we have all wanted to do when stuck at someon’e house who is watching reality tv. I think this line is from Chatterton, an 18thc poet who suicided at 18: “GIVE US WINGS WINGS WINGS! THOUGH WE PLUNGE INTO THE SEA!”

  • Seagull In 3D
    by Karsten Stier

    US$3.42–US$91.20

This is the actual shape of the canvas This is where the entire shape of the canvas itself becomes an integral part of the overall theme. The canvas is tapered to give the illusion that the top of the canvas is leaning back and the bottom is protruding forward towards the viewer. / The blue represents both the waves of the ocean and the point where the horizon line of the ocean and sky meet. / The seagull itself is reduced down to its barest essential shape and color. With one wing up and one wing down representing the seagull’s constant wing movement as it seems to hover above the seascape. Oil on Stretched Canvas – No Airbrushing 67 bottom X 31 top X 61 height inches / 170 bottom X 79 top X 92 height cm Original : / $3000 AU – excluding p&p from Melbourne, Australia / contact my Agents at Gallery 112 / .......................................................................................
