I was on the beach near my home in Oregon. I heard a crashing wave to my right, turned, pointed the camera at arms length, and snapped the shutter….this image is a gift from the universe.

I went to the beach today. It was hot. I got sun burnt and took this. Mererwether Beach ISO200 / f5.6 / 13sec exposure / lots of sun. I have now discovered that the Canon450D will actually focus with the IR filter attached….imagine that! Comes in bloody handy!
Probably got closer than I should have… Middle Cove, Newfoundland, a large island off the east coast of Canada. As Is.
Late afternoon at Port Willunga South Australia. Looking out towards the setting sun through the remains of the Old Jetty structure. Not overly sure about the colours here, strange evening with orange red clouds and just dark enough to get a slight amount of motion in the foreground. Canon 400D, 18 -55 lens, CIR Polarising filter coupled with an ND4. Wet legs and a wet tripod, standing out in the water trying to avoid waves!!!!!!

The Shell Maiden / / I come from the rain of sky and sea, caught / on the web of a shoreline daisy, braced low / and spinning in carnival delight with the / kiss of Pacifica’s mist. I come from the company of driftwood and seashells, bleached white as a wedding train waiting to be worn. The waves roll like a wedding march / announcing the union of land and deep blue dreams. / They bring a dowry of tangled vines and sand dollar spines, / and my heart says YES to this sailors treasure. I come from the flutter of dry seaweed, / no longer rich with Oceana’s brine, and yet / adorning the beach with seafoam flare, / like rice and petals clinging to the foot of a runaway bride. Bring me the delicacies of your wedding feast, snapped up in the yellow of a jealous lover’s bill, for I am treading softly here on honeymoon beds of ancient sand, / inscribing moon colored vows / on the framework / of whales. Black Ink, graphite, coloured pencil, pastels & white gel pen on A5 cartridge This comes purely from my love of the ocean… It’s beauty & power, it’s cool calm flow of serenity… / From the crystal clear waters of tropical isles to the deep blue-greens at the base of a breaking wave… / By the sea… there is nowhere i’d rather be. Soundtrack: / Girl & The Sea By The Presets… title says it all! / La Mar By The Beautiful Girls… I want this song played at my wedding & my funeral… / All I Need By Air… Classic & what i was listening to whilst drawing.

/ / “Beach Picnic” is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured digitally, I hope you like this image with mother and daughter in similar sundresses. As a child we enjoyed beach picnics all the time, mum would make us special fried chicken (better than Kentucky Fried) and we would go out on the boat to a little island, where i would play with soldier crabs for hours on end, while dad fished and mum sunbaked… they were wonderful times. We also went on the annual Beach Picnic to Bonny Hills with the church and we were great friends with the priest back in those days who was a top water skier.. We would see so many things at Bonny Hills, sea snakes slithered past in the creek where we were swimming and there were amazing white clay deposits in the sand….hours of fun were had by all… not to mention we even had a little mass there… top fun :)
Jackson Bay, West Coast, South Island, New Zealand. / I spent four days out on the coast, waiting for a sunset or a sunrise, any glimse of the sun. It just rained and rained, untill the last day and there was a small gap in the clouds. / Nikon D200 Views 821 /
Photo Manipulation Musical inspiration: Akira Yamaoka. There are no lyrics, only music. I find his music haunting and it sets a rather melancholy mood, both beautiful and sad. / I listen almost exclusively to Yamaoka songs (mostly the soundtracks from the Silent Hill games/movie – my absolute faves) when I am creating.
