‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Nancy, Patsy, Ellen and Red Dog is a mixed media production. I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper. The original painting was just auctioned for charity recently. This work was also inspired by the _‘Legend of Red Dog aka The Pilbara Wanderer’, as is ‘Where is Red Dog’. Red Dog was an adventurous dog who seemed to belong to an entire community. / When his soulmate John died, Red Dog searched for him for the rest of his days, that’s loyalty for you! This painting depicts the time Red Dog’s search for John took him all the way from the dusty outback to Cottesloe Beach, with the girls from his hometown hot on his tail…... If you look closely you can see the tips of Red Dog’s ears way out past the breakers!

There are days when a visit to the rockpools does wonders for my soul! / To share a visit to the rockpools with one’s friends is even better.

Migaloo is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper. Gazing out to sea on a warm summer day, she notices something, some movement further out to see, was that a splash or just the sea crashing on a bombie or coral reef out there? squinting…..squinting…..squinting…..... oh my! it’s a white whale!....Migaloo no less!

The original painting was inspired by the legend of ‘Red Dog’, aka ‘The Pilbara Wanderer’ of Western Australia. Red Dog was a loyal friend and stout companion to all who knew him. In this painting, the girl on the skateboard represents us in our search for love and acceptance and ‘Red Dog’ symbolises that quintessential spirit of the friend, whose love and acceptance we all yearn for.

‘Beach Series’ card by Karin Taylor Still Waters sold very early on, but she is one of my favourite images. I was inspired by Margaret Preston’s work on this occasion, wanting to give the impression of a print somehow. This is a mixed media production in which I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal.

Cod Catcher was created with ink and pastel on paper. / She has white wool for her hair. Cod Catcher loves to don her snorkel, mask & flippers and catch her dinner nice and fresh in Kingscliff Creek! She is amazing and lightning fast, ‘she catches the fish in her bare hands!

/ ‘Asian Series’ card by Karin Taylor Catch of the Day is a sweet little painting done in mixed media…using ink, acrylic, charcoal and pastels. I had so much fun creating this little character, and dressing her in a fur coat and beanie. She is being drawn along by her dolphin friend and a butterfly has thought to come visit too. Catch of the Day was inspired by a children’s book I used to read to my children when they were little, my brother gave it them. It’s a great story called ‘The Hottest Boy Who Ever Lived’ the illustrations by Kim Gamble I think are awesome. The little girl is very much like me, she loves to fish with a bamboo fishing pole, wriggly worm attached! I also love to fish out in the open ocean with my pa.. hence it also has a smidge of sentimental value.

Another not entirely right panorama from a camera my father made. Using these little cameras were a bit of a trick at times but the results were so various and mad that I love them. There are only five in this series. Below is a thumbnail of some Dad’s camera’s His camera always produced much better photo ’s technically than mine but I maintain that the mistakes I made with mine made for a more interesting image :)

This shot was taken off of US Highway 98 in Destin, FL on Okaloosa Island which is a barrier island that separates the Gulf of Mexico from Choctawhatchee Bay. The gulf is typically pretty calm in this area.
