  • / / / Scuba Diva is my latest creation for the “Children of the World” Series / She is a mixed media production created on brown paper over white gesso / using chalk pastels, acyrlic paint and charcoal. Scuba Diva was influenced and inspired by two friends of mine here on Red Bubble, both of their names have the initials MT Muscular Teeth who a great friend of mine challenged me to create this one… and MattTworkowski inspired me with his beautiful photographs from under the sea…. /

  • On a group photo shoot last night with six other members of the Mt Gambier and Limestone Coast camera Groups. Travelled to Carpenters Rocks and to the Lighthouse looking over Red Rock Bay. With an extremely low tide the green growth was exposed and created a bed of colour across the rocks. Canon 400D, 18 – 55 lens with Hoya CIR Polarising filter. Thanks to Globalphotos for the name change!

  • Over Christmas I decided to take a break from sitting around in front of the TV and stuffing my face with chocolate / nuts / dates etc, and ventured down to the seafront at Dovercourt, Essex to try and capture one of the lighthouses there. It was cold – the windchill meant the temperature was hovering around the -2 mark. Oh, how I envy our Antipodean cousins…! 1 shot HDR processed in Photomatix Pro, 20 sec shutter, 14mm, f22, ISO 100, ND8 neutral and ND4 grad filters. And a warm scarf. The two Dovercourt lighthouses are the most prominent features of the seafront. Erected by Trinity House in 1863, they were used until 1917, guiding ships around Landguard Point with their powerful gas lamps. See more of my work at Dan Biggins Photography.

These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

  • These are the oldest baths in NSW. About 1820, a natural pool was enlarged by convicts or soldiers, on the orders of Major James Thomas Morisset, Commandant of the Newcastle settlement from 1819 to 1822. Its original size is estimated as 15 feet long, seven feet wide and six feet deep. Initially reserved for military use, these baths apparently served for a time as Morisset’s private bathing place and were for many years known as the Commandant’s Bath.

  • © Simone Byrne Photography, 2009. All Rights Reserved. 19th December 2009 Low tide rock ledge falls, Mornington Peninsula. So much for my break from photography! Headed south for a guitar lesson and took the camera hoping for a decent sunset. The sunset eluded me again, but the twilight was just magic, so I made the most of it. I have to admit, it was a great feeling to be back out there standing on a rock ledge with the formidable ocean swells as a backdrop. Life just doesn’t get much better. Standing at the Edge of the Earth I knew that this moment would come in time / That I’d have to let go and watch you fly / I know you’re coming back so why am I dying inside / Are you searching for words that you can’t find / Trying to hide your emotions but eyes don’t lie / Guess there’s no easy way to say goodbye So I’ll be standing at the edge of the earth / Hoping that someday you’ll come back again / I’ll be standing at the edge of the earth hoping for someday Don’t misunderstand what I’m trying to say / I don’t want to let you leave this way / I want you to know that I stand right by your side And I know this may be / The very last time that we see each other cry / But whatever happens know that I’ll… I’ll be standing at the edge of the earth / Hoping that one day you’ll come back again / I’ll be standing at the edge of the earth hoping that someday / You’ll come back to me / I’ll be praying for whatever it’s worth / Believing that one day you’ll come back to me / I’ll be standing at the edge of the earth / Hoping for someday And I know this may be / The very last time that we see each other cry / But whatever happens know that I’ll… I’ll be standing at the edge of the earth / Hoping that one day you’ll come back again / I’ll be standing at the edge of the earth hoping that someday / You’ll come back to me / I’ll be praying for whatever it’s worth / Believing that one day you’ll come back to me / I’ll be standing at the edge of the earth / Hoping for someday Waiting for someday Believing in someday / Praying for someday, I’ll be… / Longing for someday Clinging to someday / Cherishing someday, I’ll be… / Thinking of someday Dreaming of someday / Wishing for someday, I’ll be… / Living for someday Counting on someday / Knowing that one day… I will see you Lyrics & music © Blessid Union of Souls —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Image Details: Canon 50D, 17-85mm lens @ 17mm / 30 sec, f16, iso 100 / GND filters / Levels/Curves in PS / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- 100% of the profit from the sale of my images on Red Bubble will go to supporting research done by the Black Dog Institute into Bipolar Disorder and Depression.
