Macro shot taken of some coral in Vanuatu.

A close up to show detail on a pygmy seahorse. These sea horses are tiny creatures (about 15mm long) that live on coral (sea fans) in tropical reefs around the Pacific. They are very difficult to find. This one was taken on a trip I did to Indonesia. Nikon D200 / 105mm VR macro

I thought people might be interested to see what a pearl farm looks like from underwater. Taken on a recent trip to Indonesia. Sadly I got no free samples of their products, but there were some amazing pearls in their display room. Dikon D200 / 10.5mm fish eye

Clown fish use the stinging anemones for protection from predators. When I got a little too close for comfort, this guy ducked back in under cover.

Sometimes when you are photographing underwater with your camera and strobe lights you set up an image and take it, and then it turns out completely different to what you had anticipated. This was one of those cases. The shot turned out completely abstract but in a good way. The abstract qualities are what made me upload this image. If you take the time to stare deeply into this image you might find some fantastic depth? I know that I did when I was processing it. I quite like the soft qualities, with sharp highlights poking through and also the peach and red coloured hues through this image. The image (whilst slightly abstract) is actually a macro shot of a “feather duster worm.” The worm uses those feather fronds to filter feed in the water column.

Impressive growth on this pylon hanging down in the water from the Flinder’s pier above. Flinders is located on the Mornington Peninsula, near Melbourne in Australia. A great spot to go an do some underwater photography.
