Found at the Melbourne Docklands precinct, these are two of many steel sculptures sitting in the park near the giant kinetic wind-powered sculpture “The Blowhole” / This image taken on my Diana, a medium format “toy camera” with Fuji 160 NPC film.
Crate man has climbed onto a roof at victoria park train station in collingwood. / note: I didn’t build crate man, I just took the photo.. all credit goes to the creative disobedient mind behind the installation.
Taken with a Minolta 5xi on Fuji film
This is an installation that was in St Kilda on the beach in June last year. It’s got that really lost feeling about it which is a quality in images that I really enjoy… Simplicity… If you look at the bottom right there’s actually 2 people entering the boat. I only noticed this after I took the shot.
Tian Tan Buddha at Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island off the Hong Kong Airport, is an imposing sight. This 85 feet bronze statue is the world’s tallest outdoor seated bronze Buddha. In its presence, one is dwarfed not just in stature, but in true understanding and perception of life and universe. The Human Tower
My uploaded work has been a bit dark and meaningful of late so I’m going to lighten up and post a few pretty pictures to break it all up a bit. This building I am going to assume is quite distictive and you all know what it is and where it is. It’s one of my very favorite public sculptures in the whole wide world. Its just so spendidly itself. But given that its had its picture taken about forty seven million times in its thirty odd years of life, the question is how do you make it seem fresh and shiny and beautiful all over again? My father who was a brilliant photographer and who gifted me with his love of the craft had his own anwer and that was…......to sit and wait ….......and pray and hope that the gods are listening and send along a stunning few moments of evening light….. it was all in the light for him and its all in the light for me…. The other thing that he passed along was a love of unusual ways to capture images and this particular image was taken with one of his very eccentric and marvellous homemade cameras….. yep…. why waste a perfectly good Port box when you can spend a moment or three and turn it into a simply wonderful camera and then load it up with scruptious film ….. say like Veliva or Ektachrome 64….. and then go and sit somewhere beautiful and splendid and wait for the sky to kick in…... and here is a little picture of some of dear old Dad’s homemade cameras…. /
Probably the last of the Opera House shots I’m going to be uploading for a while. This was taken a few minutes after House of Golden Light and just a bit further on towards the Harbour Bridge. There are often lovely sailing boats and things moored down past the Customs House and sometimes you can just be lucky with the light and the framing. In another small while all the light will be drained from this sky and the night lights will come on giving the whole area a completely different look again.
found a whole untouched box of slides today….. amazing and the first one out was the missing companion image to and at the end of the day .... makes a change from the deep brooding IR landscapes I’ve been putting up …... I’m pretty sure most people will figure out were this was taken and the old boat and the new boat framing this wonderful building are an interesting juxtaposition that speak about where we Australians have come from and were we are now…..... enjoy
A Cow upside down in a tree at the Docklands in Melbourne, Australia. Definitely one of the stranger sculptures out there! HDR in Photomatix, adjustments in Lightroom
The Sculptures are located on a hill over looking Broken Hill in the Living Desert Reserve. They make an excellent subject and have been photographed and painted by many. I decided to get in on the act. If you are ever visiting Broken Hill it is worth the 8 km drive to the Sculptures – especially at Sunset, or if your really keen, sunrise. / yawn, Sue For Sue Hodge originals visit: www.suehodge.com.au / For more prints by Sue Hodge visit: http://ochresands.redbubble.com

. the wind no longer carried the familiar scent / she smelled old concrete and mildew no seagulls flew / instead the broken fragments of frozen waves / that tasted like plastic she saw the end of the sky / trapped within the cement walls / grey and cold she still stood on the ledge / in the wind / she knew she was there to catch silent whispers / but she could not remember who’s… . image: / architectural sculpture / graduate portfolio review 2oo9 / @ southern california institute of architecture / o4.24.2oo9 .
This is a still life/sculpture photo for a show I am working on. I photographed this photo with my little Canon Camera (PowerShot A540).
I know I don’t usually do works like this but i thought it looked pretty cool. There was this really interesting sculpture by the water and i shot it straight on, It was a boring perspective. So I tried a few ways and in time i got to this, it was the shot i was looking for. As our tempers rise war is born, war with ourselves, war with others or war with war, it is all trouble. Trouble begets more trouble so the key is to never encourage it in the first place.
