This is the same shot as sunrise over the gyle with a little added lighting /

This shot was taken on the streets of Paris (yes a lot of my images are from my trip, I just saw too many beautiful things not to share). In this shot the Cherub seems to be alone or lost, and the falling drops from the fountain above I thought were like Angel Tears, tears for the little one they couldn’t find.

/ After a long walk today this is the result / On a walk through the Tillicourty Glen / we saw the view and took the shot / A photo of the distant River Forth flowing slowly to the sea / slightly spoiled by the Smokey stack bellowing white clouds / over the green fields that surround the river on all sides. / On our return through the town we spotted the wild stallion / tied to the gate standing proud and true but still out of place. / Untying him we walked back to the place he longed to be a place / where he’s free the be the wild Stallion he was born to be. / If only life was perfect Image and words are © Copyright 2008 Alan Findlater, All Rights Reserved / and can be purchased via redbubble.com/fincath / no other use is allowed without express permission.

This small rock pool is found in Cabbage Tree Bay, along the pathway between Manly and Shelly Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. The sculpture/statue is known as The Oceanids. This image was a 30 second exposure nearly an hour before sunrise with the pool wall and sculpture lit up by a nearby street light. This image has also won a photo of the week at photographer Steve Parish’s Photograph Australia website.

This began as a photo of an actual “Secret Garden” my husband and I found on one of our “Date Days”, there were wood sculptures of insects and many levels of an array of beautiful flowers. This dragonfly sculpture stood watch above the garden and I played with many flower photos and a few fairies to greate the magic that unleashes within my mind’s eye…and voila ;) “In my garden there is a large place for sentiment, my garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams. The thoughts grow as freely as flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful.” Abram L. Urban / /

Image made from the beautifull Malvhina water sculpture by Rose Garrard from which flows the natural spring water from the depth of the Malvern Hills in Worcesterhire, England. Research by Rose Garrard in 2006 has revealed for the first time an ancient tradition of Well Dressing in the Malverns. In the 12th and 13th centuries the Holy Well was dressed annually with offerings, probably on August 5th, in thanks to St Oswald for water cures there. In 1615 there was a national drought, but as Malvern`s springs kept flowing they “were (well) dressed as a token of gratitude for a plentiful supply of water” (Malvern Advertiser 1870) CS Lewis lived in Malvern as a child, including a spell at Malvern College, 1910-14. He introduced JRR Tolkien to the Head of English, George Sayer and The Lord of the Rings was first put down on tape at his Malvern home.

Eiffel Tower view at night from Pont Alexandre III. Pont Alexandre III is an arch bridge that spans the Seine, connecting the Champs-Élysées quarter and the Invalides and Eiffel Tower Quarter, regarded by many as one of the prettiest in Paris. The bridge, with its exuberant Art Nouveau lamps, cherubs, nymphs and winged horses at either end, was built between 1896 and 1900. It was named after Tsar Alexander III (father of Nicholas II) of Russia. It was Nicholas II who laid the foundation stone in October 1896. The style of the bridge reflects that of the Grand Palais, to which it leads on the right bank. The construction of the bridge is a marvel of 19th century engineering, consisting of a 6m high single span steel arch. The design was subject to strict controls that prevented the bridge from obscuring the view of the Champs-Élysées or the Invalides. The bridge was built by the engineers Résal and Alby and inaugurated in 1900 for the Universal Exhibition. Classified as historical monument, four gold-covered bronze statues hover over the bridge, on the top of 17 meter columns, representing “Renommées” standing close to Pegasus.
