This small rock pool is found in Cabbage Tree Bay, along the pathway between Manly and Shelly Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. The sculpture/statue is known as The Oceanids. This image was a 30 second exposure nearly an hour before sunrise with the pool wall and sculpture lit up by a nearby street light. This image has also won a photo of the week at photographer Steve Parish’s Photograph Australia website.

IT WAS A REAL LOVE SONG / I HEARD HIM SING TO ME. / IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT… / HIS VOICE SAID, “COME AND SEE.” “I HAVE PREPARED A PLACE / WHERE YOU WILL DWELL WITH ME.” / I HEARD HIS GENTLE VOICE / SAY TO ME SO QUIETLY. IT WAS THE SWEETEST SONG / ANYONE COULD EVER SING. / HE SAID, “I HAVE CHOSEN YOU / TO BE WITH ME ETERNALLY.” “I WILL BE YOUR GROOM,” / HIS SWEET VOICE SAID TO ME, / “YOU WILL BE MY BRIDE, / AND ALWAYS BE WITH ME.” IT WAS A REAL LOVE SONG, / MY SAVIOUR SANG TO ME. / HE SANG THESE SWEETEST OF WORDS, / I’LL TAKE YOU HOME WITH ME.” Lu 18:16 ”...Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” / Lu 18:17 “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” I found and photographed this beautiful sculpture at the wonderful Huntington Library Gardens in Southern California just outside Los Angeles. The Gyoto Monks of Tibet are an often seen sight at many cultural events in the Byron Bay region. Seen here laughing, this particular monk escaped Tibet into India 50 years ago with His Holiness, The Dali Lama. His trademark expression and enjoying tea and biscuit, the joke is enjoyed by all at the table.

For David Parkin / I now love the angel just as much as you and I can totally understand the adoration you have. / I saw the Angel up close for the very first time today and I was dumbstruck. It is believed to be the largest angel sculpture in the world. / It is one of the most viewed pieces of art in the world – seen by more than one person every second, 90,000 every day or 33 million every year. / It is one of the most famous artworks in the region – almost two thirds of people in the North East had already heard of the Angel of the North before it was built. / Its 54 metre (175 foot) wingspan is bigger than a Boeing 757 or 767 jet and almost the same as a Jumbo jet. / It is 20 metres (65 feet) high – the height of a five storey building or four double decker buses. / It weighs 200 tonnes – the body 100 tonnes and the wings 50 tonnes each. / There is enough steel in it to make 16 double decker buses or four Chieftain tanks. / It will last for more than 100 years. / It will withstand winds of more than 100 miles per hour. / Below the sculpture, massive concrete piles 20 metres deep will anchor it to the solid rock beneath.

I came across this marvelous creation at the Huntington Library in California several years ago. It has always been one of my favorites. The artist who carved this fabulous work captured the very essence of love enterchanging between the members of the family. The protective arms of the father, the closeness of the three in bodily contact, the eyes of the parents upon their infant, the trust of the mother in her husband’s arms and her arm cradling the child, the innocent joy of being alive shining from the child’s face, the seated position to indicate rest and lack of fear. A perfect work of peace, love and harmony. The whole message seems to say, “With these arms I will always hold you.” There is so much spiritual feeling present in this work. The artist was a master at sculpture. The work uses every aspect of design to capture all available light, reflection and shadows to bring this work to life. I hope you like it. HDR enhanced. Image made from the beautifull Malvhina water sculpture by Rose Garrard from which flows the natural spring water from the depth of the Malvern Hills in Worcesterhire, England. Research by Rose Garrard in 2006 has revealed for the first time an ancient tradition of Well Dressing in the Malverns. In the 12th and 13th centuries the Holy Well was dressed annually with offerings, probably on August 5th, in thanks to St Oswald for water cures there. In 1615 there was a national drought, but as Malvern`s springs kept flowing they “were (well) dressed as a token of gratitude for a plentiful supply of water” (Malvern Advertiser 1870) CS Lewis lived in Malvern as a child, including a spell at Malvern College, 1910-14. He introduced JRR Tolkien to the Head of English, George Sayer and The Lord of the Rings was first put down on tape at his Malvern home.

Tian Tan Buddha at Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island off the Hong Kong Airport, is an imposing sight. This 85 feet bronze statue is the world’s tallest outdoor seated bronze Buddha. In its presence, one is dwarfed not just in stature, but in true understanding and perception of life and universe. Colors of monochrome: Some of my other work: / / / © Kuntal Daftary

Eiffel Tower view at night from Pont Alexandre III. Pont Alexandre III is an arch bridge that spans the Seine, connecting the Champs-Élysées quarter and the Invalides and Eiffel Tower Quarter, regarded by many as one of the prettiest in Paris. The bridge, with its exuberant Art Nouveau lamps, cherubs, nymphs and winged horses at either end, was built between 1896 and 1900. It was named after Tsar Alexander III (father of Nicholas II) of Russia. It was Nicholas II who laid the foundation stone in October 1896. The style of the bridge reflects that of the Grand Palais, to which it leads on the right bank. The construction of the bridge is a marvel of 19th century engineering, consisting of a 6m high single span steel arch. The design was subject to strict controls that prevented the bridge from obscuring the view of the Champs-Élysées or the Invalides. The bridge was built by the engineers Résal and Alby and inaugurated in 1900 for the Universal Exhibition. Classified as historical monument, four gold-covered bronze statues hover over the bridge, on the top of 17 meter columns, representing “Renommées” standing close to Pegasus.

Sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you reach out to touch it. Sometimes you can’t see how beautiful something is until it steps back into the light. And sometimes you miss a love you almost didn’t lose. But when you need beauty, dream…................ / / . /

The King Louis XVI Statue that sits outside of Jefferson County Courthouse in downtown Louisville turned 175 years old in 2004. The statue, commissioned by his daughter Marie-Therese and sculpted by Achille-Joseph Valois, stands three and one half meters tall and weighs nine tons.
