Roxy the Boxer. / Melbourne, Australia.
I was doing a fashion photo shoot for the local school, you know how it is, you volunteer your time lump in the lights and studio gear and some nice middle aged ladies flash their eyes at you. Well I brought along my 6 year old to help out, give him the volunteering-community minded bug sort of thing, he got bored, he told me, so, his face told me so, he looked fed up, so I asked him to test out the lights, and as a reward he got chocolate. The next shot should have been him smiling, but the energy boost ment he just ran off!
In keeping with Halloween, I thought this fearsome looking katydid would be just the ticket. Head on, it looks a lot more menacing than it does from the side. I snapped this photo right before nightfall as the katydid was emerging from the shadows in a rose.

“It is difficult indeed to understand the ego in its depth and devious ways. It is an inert entity, that is to say, it cannot know itself not can it know others; It has no fear; it will not bend before others; it degrades man from the golden glory, which is his due, to the level of lowly dust.” Sri Sathya Sai Baba quotes (Indian Spiritual leader, b.1926)

This is one of the urban foxes that lives in a park close to my house. This particular fox has a limp so I recognised him/her (any ideas anyone?) instantly. This fox lets me get very close, within a few metres, although the others are more cautious. I take food for them when I can, as the urban foxes are often malnourished and can suffer from disease. I am thinking of getting some anti mange and worming tablets to put in their food, hopefully this will help. Some people view them as vermin, but I see them as beautiful wild animals that are just trying to survive and adapt to thier environment. Anyone who thinks a fox deserves to be shot or destroyed, or any animal for that matter, is really missing something, and I feel sorry for them. / On this occasion I was able to see seven foxes in the park at the same time and spent about 20 minutes with this one. I am really excited about this opportunity to view these foxes and hope to capture some unique shots in future. / I watched a fox eating blackberries off a bush, which I had never even realised they would do (I got a couple of shots, but they are a little blurred due to the low light) / I chose this particular shot because I liked the houses in the background which show the fox in the context of its urban environment. / I hope to have some more interesting shots soon.
