I have never seen thistles as big as some of the ones out in the fields of Victoria. Despite realising their unpopularity, I liked the way they look in this auto-dried state, like an unruly mob of raggle taggle gypsies.
Just playing around with a Scotch Thistle and Modified it
A little something for my Dad who hits retirement age in the next few weeks. Don’t worry Dad. I’m saving the one with the motorised wheelchair, medication and the grim reaper for your 75th ;)
Oh, how silly horses can be. They have hay and a barn but they choose to be out in the snow. I love the snow flying in this shot. It was cold but worth it I think.
Scotch Plains, NJ – Memorial Day Parade 2008
I’d driven from the scottish borders to ben nevis, (the highest peak in uk) to meet some damp friends through low cloud and light rain…so the few shots I took were pretty glum and dismal looking….. But after slight tweaking I liked the wetness of this classic sight with every blade of grass just laden with moisture and the light rain still falling… Typical camping weather! / / View large to see in full ‘soggy-vision’ ... ;)) Taken with an old compact nikon coolpix 4800
A peek up the loch from kenmore – a delightful village at the head of loch tay in perthshire – on a soft misty moist september day… great for walking ! / The purple flowers are wildgrowing ‘rosebay willowherb’ .....just love the name….. ;))) See also gone fishing taken just a few hundred yards up the lovely river tay from here.. ;))
Here it goes down, down into my belly
Scotch Plains, NJ – Jan 2009 – I actually never noticed this place until the Autumn, which is odd, because I pass here every day. It’s the only barn on the block, the rest is residential. / Suburban Scenes by Mike Savad Squidoo Lenses
The early promise of dawn over Ben More in Scotlands lovely Perthshire countryside was abruptly obscured by the big black cloud blowing in from the right… :)) (Nikon coolpix 4800)
All ready for a night on the town! Reminiscent of a bygone era when the dapper gentleman would hit the town in style. An elegant silver handled walking stick, white derby hat, cigars in a Spanish leather cigar case, and an 1881 Morgan silver dollar to pay the tab. There is also a bottle and glass of whiskey to get him started. Canon 50D – Canon 17-55 – f22 Also see the companion piece for the ladies! /
One of the highest distilleries in the land, Dalwhinnie is a wonderfully full-bodied, smooth and warming malt whisky. / Oil on Canvas / Original Size 60×60cm
When I was out in this field shooting the sunrise, I thought to myself, if only everyone could fall in love with nature, there would be no room for war and hatred in the world. As I was running around over the saturated grass, with saturated shoes, I forgot all my troubles as this magical moment happened. We were on our way to the Bunya Mountains National Park. When I returned to the car, reality kicked in, I had saturated shoes, and no spare ones!! It must have looked funny, socks jammed in the rear windows, and the shoes wedged in the roof racks to dry… Scotch Thistle, in a cattle field, just outside Kilcoy, Queensland, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available, and best viewed LARGE!
That’s right folks. I just had three shots of Hennigans and I don’t smell. Say you got a big job interview, and you’re a little nervous. Well throw back a couple shots of Hennigans and you’ll be as loose as a goose and ready to roll in no time.
Oil on Canvas / Original size 30×30cm Bowmore Distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland has stood on the shores of Loch Indaal, on the Hebridean Island of Islay, since 1779. / / Its close proximity to the sea is vital in determining the final character of Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, as is the strict adherence to the traditional production methods handed down to Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd in 1963, by its four previous owners. Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced using water from the Laggan River from where it gathers the flavours of the rich Islay Peat, the same Peat that fires the Malt drying kiln. scottnaismith.co.uk /
twenty seven years on this ungodly earth / ending, sat down by the river / absorbing the small sips now taking their berth / on the tasting buds, keen to deliver the living in trees are now passing to ground / and winter stands waiting in line / and the stream trickles on, in knowledge it’s bound / for pitlochry, til barrels entwine an edradour malt slides faint troubles and fears / away, ships past stormy seas / so here I raise a glass to the twenty eighth year / may it flow as the river decrees —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Pitlochry, Perthshire, Scotland © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk
