This image grew organically from the “Chiefs wife”. I was thinking of the regal aloof nature of the African queen, which I had drawn earlier and then I thought of the scary twighlight world of the Sangoma, or witchdoctor, in juxtapostion to this calmer world. Sort of like the yin/yang, good and evil aspects that co-exist within each of us.

It was then, at that bone-crushing moment of fatal impact, that Faceplate and Ringbarker realised they really were madly in love… Lineart drawn directly into PhotoShop, vectorised and coloured in Illustrator (for those who like to know about that stuff).

LIES / OIL ON STRETCHED CANVAS / $900 US (11” X 14” ORIGINAL) / SIGNED DEDICATED PRINTS AVAILABLE Tangled and mangled they were found. Amidst lies and deceits of their own making. Never realizing how enmeshed they had become in their own deceits. Attached to their lies for eternity. Never being able to see what their perfidy had done to them. A Hell of their own making. Jailed to the bedrock of their lies with no escape possible. It started small, as most lies do, then grew to an enormity that encompassed their entire life and so within this dark shadowed existence they were to remain till the crack of doom awoke. One said aloud for all to hear, “how do I stop this perpetual torture? Is there any way to escape this bondage?” I watched silently as this terrible scene unfolded before my eyes. I did not wish to be seen by these helpless lost souls for I feared that they would petition me to somehow end their misery. I could only remain their witness, I thought, not their liberator. And so my dream, no my nightmare, continued until my reprieve arrived in the morning’s light. This nocturnal visitation was so alarming and so vivid that it demanded testimonial and so I grab my brushes and my paints and proceeded to recall what I had witnessed the night before. So here is a little tale of woe brought to life by oil, canvas and these words recalled Sir Walter Scott “Oh, what tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive”. visionary imagist “Joey”

Forteana / Available as an art print, poster and card. Charles Fort was a Dutch-American writer who has inspired sci-fi writers with his wild and often visionary glimpses into the future. Today the word Fortean has come to mean anomalous phenomena. Her soft, melodious oratory would call forth again the annual rebirth of all she surveyed. The vigor and vitality of Her spoken word was evident as she commenced the awakening of a new Spring. This slumbering world that had been in deep repose all Winter long was eagerly awaiting Her arrival. Her commands were direct and clear to all Her citizens to arise from the cold chilling Winter’s sleep to start again this yearly ritual of new beginnings. Her words became poetry. The poetry of Nature. And Nature became the elegant robes that God would wear so that we could see His abundance and munificence. It is through the generous gifts of Mother Nature’s handiwork that we canwitness and come to know and believe in the Creator. Everywhere the imprint of a Higher Power can be seen. Nowhere is not present and our Mother loudly proclaims this fact. And so it is through the language of poets that words can describewhat cannot be described, reveal what cannot be revealed and hear what cannot be heard. Melodies of speech that are so harmonious, so beautiful, so invigorating that all that hear their tunes are transported magically to fresh new worlds. Worlds of undiscovered epiphanies waiting to be unveiled. So to all of you poets, known or unknown, published or unpublished, it falls upon you to tell us, through the power of words, the indescribable expressions that enrich our life’s. Heed the clarion call, remain resolute and determined in your craft. This Alien visited our Earth a few weeks back, i saw it land in a cylinder shape craft, and it came out and was wandering the woods, it nearly saw me taking this photo, I took this shot and slowly walked backwards and then got the hell out of there, as I could hear more walking my way.

NEW PILGRIMS / OIL ON STRETCHED CANVAS / $900 US (12” X 16” ORIGINAL) / SIGNED DEDICATED PRINTS AVAILABLE I have always wondered exactly what is over that next mountain? What new adventure is awaiting my arrival? And when can I leave? It has always been that way with me. I’m not exactly sure why but it is the lure of travel and new vistas that has always captured my heart. Age has not diminished that lure. Age has actually made the temptation greater. Time, it would appear, limits me to one life and there is so much to see and so much to do that I find myself wishing for more minutes in the hour, more days within the week, more months within the year and if at all possible more life’s to live. So I have constructed a means, a way, a ruse to cheat Time. I can travel to places far, far away visit with whomever I wish and whenever I desire. Places that no one yet has seen. I can travel far into the future or if I wish I can go back deep within the past. The remarkable thing is that how I do this is not unique. I see it done, mostly by young children, when they play. This trickery, this means by which I travel is simply my imagination and with it I can do the most wonderful of things. By allowing myself to dream I can be transported anywhere and at any time I wish. So with my brushes and my oils I have traveled deep into the future where I beheld the most wonderful of sights. There before my gaze were the “new pilgrims”. They were landing on the shores of a “new world”. Brave new adventurers, romantics, and daredevils all. Not fearing the unknown. Intrepid explorers going where no one had gone before. So what a wonderful gift the Creator has given to me. The gift of imagination. When I feel too “adult” all I need to do is spend some time with some very young explorers. Children are the greatest of explorers, as they see for the first time the wonderful gift of imagination. What a joy it is to see them fashion new, vibrant ideas with supple minds that are open to all new discoveries. They leave “no stone unturned” as they explore everything and everywhere.
