oil/digital / abstract landscape what will become of us?
oil on canvas / abstract landscape
oil/acrylic on canvas / 40 in. x 30 in.
oil/digital I did this work out of respect, and a hope for a better future. Even though there’s great wounding, I wanted it to be green as a symbol for new life and hope. The proceeds from this piece will be going to the DC Save Darfur campaign. savedarfur.org / ’Save Darfur’&:http://www.savedarfur.org Thanks! Mechelle
An oil painting I did a while back. I took a pic of it and messed around with it in Photo-Impact.
Pumpkin and Crystal saying hello. Thought it was a sweet moment. Usually they are moody and fussing with each other. :) A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this print will go to White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue. www.whitebirdapps.org. Let me know if you have any issues with the link! Thanks, Mechelle
Oil/Digital I don’t know…seems to be the beginning of something, or the return to something primary. fundamental. ??
Oil/Acrylic An homage to N Kumar Bellani and his wondeful Bellini-scapes! A gift he’s probably wishing he could give back right about now, lololol! Work featured in Live, Love, Dream!
This is a close-up of our dog, Chloe. She is a Pointer mix that we rescued from the pound last summer. Best dog we’ve ever had!!! And I swear she can understand us. Kingdom 1
Oil/digital
8×10, oil/acrylic, original
Oil on Canvas – 30×60 in. The optional title for this was “Coat of Many Colors”. Painted with pallet knives only.
Oil on Canvas – 24×30 in. This piece is intended to be a study of the effect of placing bright blues against bright reds. Somewhat like the old 3D glasses, there are a number of areas that appear to float when viewed closely in person. The goal is also to blur the lines between what is the immediate foreground and background color – a sort of color intrusion that changes when you force yourself to consider one or the other as the primary. As far as the title goes, it has a personal theological meaning to me. The blue tones represent Jesus describing himself as the provider of living spiritual water of which those who drink will never thirst, while simulatneously having the red represent the sacrificial shedding of blood. “Non-Compliance” refers to his teachings coming in to direct conflict with the rulers of his day.

This is a photo, which is a departure for me vs. working with oil paints. Have had some very positive feedback from folks about On Approach and wanted to share some of the inspiration for it. I love leaves. This is one of a series I took in the fall of ‘07 here in northern Virgina (an amazing time of year). Actually shot this through rose-colored sunglasses, which really make everything pop. There is a definite truth to the saying “looking at the world through rose-colored glasses”! Life just looks a lot better. Highly recommend a pair in spring and fall, especially for us aesthetic-centric bubblers! :-) BTW – thanks to Melodius for “Autumn Red” , which is a killer image that reminded me about these pics.
Oil on Canvas – 24×36” hard to miss this walking through the room :0) another facet of the black/white line contrasts started in “black and oranges”
bet they weren’t expecting it when they awoke that day… oil on canvas 4’ x 4’
oil on canvas 14×14 in Looking at this one makes me feel kindly of giddy for some reason… go figure YES… THIS IS VERSION 1.1 – I made a mistake in prepping the canvas that just couldn’t be overlooked. And since this is headed for a gallery couldn’t just leave it be. So, re-gessoed over Fluidity 1 and repainted! arrrrgghh! Won’t do that again!
oil on canvas – 26×36 in this is the full work that spawned the detail image which got posted about a week ago. a study in oil colors contrasting with black/white/gray. just realized that i could have thrown a little indigo and violet in there and had the full spectrum. hmmmm… not sure why i didn’t! as always, done only with palette knives. headed to an art gallery in greenville, sc, along with “fluidity 1” and “fluidity 2”. :0)
oil on canvas – 33×42 inches got involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Team in Training this summer while training for the Nation’s Triathlon here in DC. what a great group of people. this is going in their DC headquarters, and is an abstraction of the TnT logo. they are an amazing group of people that are dedicated to finding a cure for blood cancers, as well as supporting both the victims and their families. Team in Training endurance athletes have now raised almost $1 billion dollars for blood cancer research and support! you can find out more about it here
oil on canvas – 2×3 feet – songs… like a healing breeze IONA , my all time favorite band, is from scotland/UK. they are considered what would be prog celtic rock. much of their music is very etheral at first but leads into incredibly powerful movements. IONA’s core members are world-class musicans. david bainbridge and troy donockley are amazing artists. and lead singer joanne hogg’s voice can easily be described as pristeen. they have also produced what is my “desert island” cd (as in – if you could only take one…) it’s called open sky . i’ve probably listened to it 200 times. this painting is not an abstraction of the CD cover per se, but it is inspired by it and the songs themselves… Open Sky Rev. 22:2 There’s a tree in my garden / Tall and dark with countless leaves / And it whispers in the air / And it dances in the breeze / And it sways in the storm / But its hold is strong And like the hope / That’s come my way / And turns me round / To face the sky / The rhythm of this world / The gift of life / The essence that can never die By a river crystal bright / There’s a tree where waters flow / Leaves that fall for our healing / Scattered on the world below / Where angels dance / And the people sing… a song of hope that’s come my way
oil on canvas. about 2×3 feet
oil on canvas with palette knives. about 3×4 feet. the leukemia & lymphoma society asked me to do a painting for the top fundraiser for the 2008 Nation’s Triathlon. the winner was a really super guy who raised like $7,000. the majority of this came from former students that he coached over the years as a running intstructor. this was their palette choice. he obviously had a big impact on them for the donations to reach such a high level. thus… he must be “Well Respected” by those whose lives he has sown care and wisdom into over the years.
32×70 inches – oil on canvas with palette knives i work for microsoft (which is a tremendous blessing). we are a very charity minded company. once a year MSFT sponsors an in-house, online auction where employees contribute goods or services and then other employees from around the globe can bid on them. MSFT corporate then matches whatever the employees raise and we give it all to charity. we’re talking millions, folks… this year i offered to do a painting to the winner’s size and color preferences. the winning bid was very nice. the kind lady who won said she wanted it to be 32×70 inches, and the palette of a pheasant. sooo… here you go! the pheasant projet :0)
