MEDDLING / Given to intruding in other people’s affairs KIDS / Young People Inspired by a cartoon first broadcast in 1969, so I guess it celebrates it’s 40th anniversary in 2009, Zoinks!
Once again Paris has yielded some intriguing details. This time rust on a container at a construction site fascinated me with its oriental-like design, and an old wall in the 13th Arrondisement gave me some nice texture. Well worth shooting on the street with traffic whizzing behind me…
—-—-—-—-—— Bernard Lawrence "Bernie" Madoff (born April 29, 1938 in New York City) is an American businessman and former chairman of the NASDAQ stock exchange. He founded the Wall Street firm Bernard L. As loans default and foreclosures increase, the lenders have to pay out more and more to hide the losses. But the lenders can only make this up by making more loans, because this is how they increase their cash flow; and now it is clear they can make nore loans, and thereby increase their cash flow only by simultaneously increasing their losses, since their “loans” are proving to be losers. So no one wants their”paper” anymore because-well-it’s the financial equivalent of toxic waste. The “subprime” stuff is just the first surge: the tidal wave is close behind. Because all of it, the subprime, the prime, the AAA and everything in between, is the product of a previously hidden, but now obvious…Ponzi scheme. A Ponzi scheme that is in the process of unraveling, as all Ponzi schemes eventually do. And what person wants to be the last idiot to buy into a Ponzi scheme? From: What the ‘Subprime’ Mess is Really About by John Regan Jr.

Blowering Dam is near Tumut on the edge of the Kosciosko National Park. It is also part of the Snowy Mountains Scheme. / You can see, if you look around the edges, that the dam is only at about 40% capacity. / It was a fairly bleak day, but the sun would filter through every now & then. Timing was important for the shot. That & HDR has helped to bring up the detail. Nikon D200 / 18-200 vr lens / F10 / 1/160 / ISO 100 / Focal length 52mm

Blowering Dam is on the western edge of Kosciuszko National Park east of Tumut at the foothills of the NSW Snowy Mountains. This photo was taken back in 2005 when the dam was around 40% capacity. Blowering is the last dam on the western side of the famous Snowy Moutains Scheme and is on the Tumut River .When full, It holds 1,628,000 megalitres, although as of May 2008 it is around 28% full. The dam was also the host of the world water speed record back in 1978 of 511 km/h (317.60 mph). This record still stands today and has yet to be beaten! For better viewing click on ‘view larger’.
