Captured in the ghost town of Como, Colorado…..this Horse and many others like him, have had a really hard winter. The town was cut off from supplies for over 6 weeks, and when I was up that way I wanted to make sure the Horses were ok…and to my pleasure they were. / They are working horses, an icon of the American West, ridden by Cowboys and worked everyday. A disappearing icon at that, but one that will forever remain and legend and go down in history. See more on my website at jdebordphoto.com —-John
Portland Head Light House, famous lighthouse on the east coast in Maine. / Famous tourist destination, always a great photo op!
Initially, early settlers utilized iron deposits found in bogs along North Carolina’s coast. As exploration expanded, large deposits of iron ore were discovered in the mountains several hundred miles to the west. In fact, by the early 1800s, the range we now refer to as the Great Smoky Mountains was known throughout the growing United States as the Great Iron Mountains. The combination of abundant iron ore and vast tracts of timber in close proximity to one another gave our region a natural ability to produce a large variety of iron products

Sometimes, not often enough in my opinion, I am lucky to get to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado at first light and this was one of those times. Just as the sun started hitting Long’s Peak, I almost ran the car off the road, to park and run in the back seat for my tripod…had to be done! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

A Morning Softness Photographed in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park, the morning of 2009, worth it as I was one of the only people in the entire park, an odd feeling to say the least, but one of absolute serenity. Processed in HDR / —-John

Shot during a good spell of weather, this is part of the awesome Brenta Massif – probably my favourite peaks in the whole of the Italian Dolomites. It sounds cliched, but photos cannot do justice to the overpowering presence of these big rocks… Canon EOS 5D MkII with Canon EF 24-105mm L IS f.4
