Hiking down Havasu Creek.
Greetings watchers and welcome to Boreas Pass, Colorado at 11,481 feet high in altitude! This place is just magical….the wildflower fields go on forever…..and it is total serenity…no one around at all. Silence, among the high peaks. Gorgeous to say the least. You honestly feel like you are in heaven up here…on top of the world….where the air is so utterly fresh and the smell of the wildflowers is hypnotizing! You literally just stand in complete and total awe. Take it all in and breath….and the one thing I personally am proud of about this shot is how I was able to get that lighting! I am not sure of the peak here… Wikipedia has a nice page up about Boreas Pass Interesting lil facts on there like “The pass was formerly known as Breckenridge Pass in the 1860s” Was just informed on Naturephotographers.net from some of my fellow Colorado Photographers, that this is Quandary Peak Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-200 DT Lens / Singh-Ray CPL / Dynatran 858 Tripod Thoughts most welcomed / —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. “The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. Let me know what ya all think! / —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

Both the grand and the intimate aspects of nature can be revealed in the expressive photograph… Both can stir enduring affirmations and discoveries… and can surely help the spectator in his search for identification… with the vast world of natural beauty and the wonder surrounding him…. ~ Ansel Adams ~
I have been here and seen the coming of man to my rivers. In my shadows have walked wildlife that no longer walk here. From my lofty peaks you can see for many miles. Once I stood higher than the far western mountains. I may have shifted and changed but I remain. My rivers are cold and my forest cool. From my bowels man has both feed himself and built his shelters. He has raped my slopes for my wood. Fought wars within me. I still survive. Mist still shroud my valleys. Flowers still shine their beauty for all to see. Come walk my paths an fish my streams. Stand on my peaks and walk my valleys. Loose yourself within yourself as your cares fade away when your with me. I am the Great Smoky Mountains, the Great Iron Mountains, Far Blue Mountains, the Sha-cona-ga. Most just call me the Smokies, and I remain. And a quote from John Muir “The mountains, are fountains, not only of rivers and fertile soil, but of men
All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget… In this, as in other ways… they are the opposite of paintings… Paintings record what the painter remembers… Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting… may change its meaning… according to who is looking at it…. / John Berger There are actually 3 levels along this portion of the McCloud River in the Shasta-Cascade region of Northern California… a Lower, Middle and Upper Falls… obviously by my caption of this shot… you are viewing Middle Falls. The hike is very scenic back to the Falls, and not overly crowded either. It was like having our own private little waterfall both times we visited this area, as we had the place literallly to ourselves….
All men dream but not equally… Those who dream by night… in the dusty recesses of their minds… wake in the day to find that it was vanity… but the dreamers of the day… are dangerous men… for they may act their dream with open eyes… to make it possible…. T.E. Lawrence
Sun Rising on A Foggy Morning Forest, the begining of a new day. I do enjoy the light, and the art in nature…..... Shot this while sitting on my deck, sipping my morning coffee. Psalms 119:105 / Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalms 118:24 / This is the day which the Lord has made, we will rejoice, and be glad in it.

This is one of my favorite little places in NW Arkansas, its peaceful and quiet from the sounds of man that is. The forest is alive with the songs of the birds, and the animals that scurry throughout the forest. and of woodpeckers that sound like a jack hammer echoing throughout the woods. NOW That everything changes when we start to see that life is suppose to be FUN and we can allow the infinite possibilities to formulate the best path for our desires to manifest. I have never seen this more true than my own life. As everyday I soften my thinking to better feeling thoughts I experience new vista’s to guide me towards that which I am becoming and that which I desire. Today has been such an easy day full of butterfly vibrations and lovely sounds and visions and YOU! xox

~ Twin Falls ~ Trail head at Camp Orr in the Buffalo River Wilderness, Arkansas Usa. / The beautiful picturesque Twin Falls now has an added beauty right beside it due to all the rain we have had in the last month. Shot this photo in the pouring rain, using my uni pod, and with my camera on auto, and of course the umbrella was a must! LOL! It was quite the challenge steadying the camera, juggling the umbrella, all the while with the lightning flashing, and the forest canape swirling in the strong winds of the storm, which caused tornadoes in many surrounding areas. By the time I finished this shoot I was soaked to the bone, but this shot and the many others I shot were all worth every moment. BUT MY CAMERA REMAINED DRY!!!!!! / I am real happy with the silky water, as I have no means to set my camera for timed shots. / Taken 5-8-09

Sutton Bank is a high vantage point at the very edge of the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors with extensive views over the Vale of York and the Vale of Mowbray. Because of its location and high elevation, Sutton Bank is popular with gliding and flying enthusiasts. Predominant landmarks include Whitestone Cliff and Roulston Scar, the former overlooking the mysterious (and reputedly bottomless !) Lake Gormire. Close nearby are the villages of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliff, and Kilburn (famous for the White Horse of Kilburn, and Robert Thompson – the “Mouseman” of Kilburn). / Sutton Bank is one of the most spectacular inland cliffs anywhere in Britain, and carries one of the most hair-raising main roads in the country. The near vertical drop from top to bottom is around 140 metres, and crosses at least two major geological boundaries. / The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is on the western edge of the fabulous North York Moors National Park – home to the largest expanse of heather moorland in England.
