Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! Greetings watchers and welcome to Boreas Pass, Colorado at 11,481 feet high in altitude! This place is just magical….the wildflower fields go on forever…..and it is total serenity…no one around at all. Silence, among the high peaks. Gorgeous to say the least. You honestly feel like you are in heaven up here…on top of the world….where the air is so utterly fresh and the smell of the wildflowers is hypnotizing! You literally just stand in complete and total awe. Take it all in and breath….and the one thing I personally am proud of about this shot is how I was able to get that lighting! I am not sure of the peak here… Wikipedia has a nice page up about Boreas Pass Interesting lil facts on there like “The pass was formerly known as Breckenridge Pass in the 1860s” Was just informed on Naturephotographers.net from some of my fellow Colorado Photographers, that this is Quandary Peak Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-200 DT Lens / Singh-Ray CPL / Dynatran 858 Tripod Thoughts most welcomed / —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. “The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. Let me know what ya all think! / —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Nestled outside of Copper Mountain in Colorado, this caught my attention fast as I was coming back home to Denver. It literally came out of no where, and thus I slammed on the breaks and made a B-line for the shoulder of the road. This was an utterly incredible scene, looking like it has never even been touched by man…..standing here looking at this, was nothing but absolute paradise….. / --John —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

Initially, early settlers utilized iron deposits found in bogs along North Carolina’s coast. As exploration expanded, large deposits of iron ore were discovered in the mountains several hundred miles to the west. In fact, by the early 1800s, the range we now refer to as the Great Smoky Mountains was known throughout the growing United States as the Great Iron Mountains. The combination of abundant iron ore and vast tracts of timber in close proximity to one another gave our region a natural ability to produce a large variety of iron products
I have been here and seen the coming of man to my rivers. In my shadows have walked wildlife that no longer walk here. From my lofty peaks you can see for many miles. Once I stood higher than the far western mountains. I may have shifted and changed but I remain. My rivers are cold and my forest cool. From my bowels man has both feed himself and built his shelters. He has raped my slopes for my wood. Fought wars within me. I still survive. Mist still shroud my valleys. Flowers still shine their beauty for all to see. Come walk my paths an fish my streams. Stand on my peaks and walk my valleys. Loose yourself within yourself as your cares fade away when your with me. I am the Great Smoky Mountains, the Great Iron Mountains, Far Blue Mountains, the Sha-cona-ga. Most just call me the Smokies, and I remain. And a quote from John Muir “The mountains, are fountains, not only of rivers and fertile soil, but of men

This is one of my favorite little places in NW Arkansas, its peaceful and quiet from the sounds of man that is. The forest is alive with the songs of the birds, and the animals that scurry throughout the forest. and of woodpeckers that sound like a jack hammer echoing throughout the woods. I love rainy, overcast, windy days. Someone has to, I suppose. The pink/purple of the fireweed has yet to reach its full splendor.
