  • A rough day on the beach in Byron Bay does not deter the keen surfers from getting a peice of the action. Notice the rays of sunlight coming through the clouds down towards the people entering the surf.

  • The Hole of Horcum is a section of the valley of the Levisham Beck in the North York Moors of northern England, upstream of Levisham and Lockton. The Hole of Horcum is a vast, 400ft deep natural hollow measuring ¾ of a mile across. It has been naturally eroded over thousands of years by the action of springs, though a more romantic legend tells us that it was created when a giant named Wade, who was in fact a Saxon chief, grabbed a ‘handful’ of earth to throw at his wife, Bell – the soil missed its target and landed to form the 800ft high hill of Blakey Topping which lies about a mile to the east. • It was so misty the distant tree line was hidden, and only the little islands of trees with their reflections were visible, but the light of the approaching sunrise gave a lovely glow to the sky. Canon EOS 450D.

  • Llandudno is Wales’s largest resort, uniquely situated between the Great and Little Ormes in Welsh Heritage of Snowdonia with two wonderful beaches, the award winning North Shore and the quiet, sand duned West Shore. Llandudno has kept its Victorian and Edwardian elegance and splendour, despite its modern attractions. During the Victorian era, roads on the Great Orme were still fairly primitive and the steep slopes prevented all but the most sure footed from reaching the summit. Llandudno was fast becoming a very popular tourist resort, so it wasn’t long before local businessmen latched on to the idea of a cable tramway. / Another unusual way of reaching the top was added in 1969. A Cabin Lift, which runs from the ornamental gardens known as Happy Valley, is the longest in Great Britain. The leisurely ride gives passengers a unique opportunity of enjoying breathtaking aerial views without actually flying! / A 300 meter, dry Ski Slope and Toboggan Run was created near the Happy Valley in 1986. ‘Ski Llandudno’ is not only popular with amateur enthusiasts but is of national importance to the sport, as the Artificial Ski Championships are held here each year. / On foot or by car, however you choose to reach the plateau of the Great Orme, you can be quite sure that the whole day will be as fun-filled and action packed, or as peaceful and relaxed as your mood dictates. One visit is just never enough. Nikon D300 / Nikkor 18-200mm / Handheld on rail / HDR 3shots Photomatix pro3.2 / PP in PS CS3

  • It never cleared but the majesty of Cradle Mountain is no different. Shot taken in September 2009.

  • This Arkansas barn is located in Pike County not far from the New Ebenezer Cemetery, the place where many of my anscestors’ bodies were laid to rest. It is such a tranquil area. I always wondered what an “Ebenezer” was. Canon EOS 30D; 18-55 mm zoom (kit lens) with a focal point of 37mm We sing about it in the old hymn, Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing in verse 2: “Sorrowing I shall be in spirit, / Till released from flesh and sin, / Yet from what I do inherit, / Here Thy praises I’ll begin; / Here I raise my Ebenezer; / Here by Thy great help I’ve come; / And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, / Safely to arrive at home.” So many times I have sung these words and I haven’t a clue what “Ebenezer” means. The term is found in scripture in the book of Samuel. Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Jeshanah, and named it Ebenezer; for he said, “Thus far the LORD has helped us.” So the Philistines were subdued and did not again enter the territory of Israel; the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel. The towns that the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath; and Israel recovered their territory from the hand of the Philistines. There was peace also between Israel and the Amorites. (1 Samuel 7:12-14 NRSV) The word “Ebenezer” comes from Hebrew and is actually two words pronounced together: “Even Haazer”. Literally speaking, an Ebenezer is a “stone of help,” or a reminder of God’s Real, Holy Presence and Divine aid. Spiritually and theologically speaking, an Ebenezer can be nearly anything that reminds us of God’s presence and help: the Bible, the Sacramental Elements, a cross, a picture, a fellow believer, a hymn – those things which serve as reminders of God’s love, God’s Real Presence, and God’s assistance are “Ebenezers.” In 1 Samuel 4:1-11 and 5:1, the Ebenezer is strangely identified with a particular site, about four miles south of Gilgal, where the Israelites were twice defeated by the Philistines and the Ark of the Covenant was stolen. These battles took place, however, before the site was actually named Ebenezer. It was like someone saying that Dinosaurs once lived in Dallas county—they did, but not when this area was called “Dallas.” Likewise, the two battles mentioned in 1 Samuel 4 and 5 took place at Ebenezer, but some time before it was so-named. The site wasn’t named Ebenezer until after the Israelites finally defeated the Philistines, and took back the Ark of the Covenant. To commemorate the victorious battle, Samuel set up a marker-stone, named it “Stone of Help,” and thereby the site became identified with the stone and with the place where God’s miraculous help aided them in their victory over the Philistines. The stone, standing up-right, was called “Ebenezer,” and the site naturally took on that name as well.

  • Some of my favourite scenes of Dorset countryside through the seasons.

  • Remember how I said people in Rajasthan are so generous to keep feeders on top of hill for birds .. highly unlikely for a state which is considered to be driest place in India. But they are even generous to the fishes. All around Rajasthan we noticed this nice trend of people visiting lakes and canals in the evening and sitting near the water and feed the fishes. Its as much fun for kids as much for adults both pretty much take turn and sit and feed the fishes :) I wonder why is this kind gesture missing from other parts of India. I have not seen bird feeders so much in south oh boy I have not seen birds in city in south of India let alone a feeder :P and i see more fish in market for sale then in any lake or tank. Guess we all can learn from the state and the people a lesson on kindness and live and let live :) This was again candid :P was sitting right near this family and took this shot :P I hope my luck doesn’t run out someday
