Greetings watchers and welcome to Boreas Pass, Colorado at 11,481 feet high in altitude! This place is just magical….the wildflower fields go on forever…..and it is total serenity…no one around at all. Silence, among the high peaks. Gorgeous to say the least. You honestly feel like you are in heaven up here…on top of the world….where the air is so utterly fresh and the smell of the wildflowers is hypnotizing! You literally just stand in complete and total awe. Take it all in and breath….and the one thing I personally am proud of about this shot is how I was able to get that lighting! I am not sure of the peak here… Wikipedia has a nice page up about Boreas Pass Interesting lil facts on there like “The pass was formerly known as Breckenridge Pass in the 1860s” Was just informed on Naturephotographers.net from some of my fellow Colorado Photographers, that this is Quandary Peak Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-200 DT Lens / Singh-Ray CPL / Dynatran 858 Tripod Thoughts most welcomed / —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. “The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. Let me know what ya all think! / —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Nestled outside of Copper Mountain in Colorado, this caught my attention fast as I was coming back home to Denver. It literally came out of no where, and thus I slammed on the breaks and made a B-line for the shoulder of the road. This was an utterly incredible scene, looking like it has never even been touched by man…..standing here looking at this, was nothing but absolute paradise….. / --John —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com
Garden Of The Gods State Park, Colorado I really wanted to try and capture the atmosphere in this shot, hope I did :) / John
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

WINTER The Atlantic Ocean at Lough Swilly, County Donegal, Ireland. December 2008 / Fujifilm Finepix s9600 with polarizer filter
Featured in All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical 21st December, 2008. Moonlight in Mulranny. Mulranny is a small town in County Mayo on the west coast of Ireland. As with several Irish placenames, it has in recent years undergone a change in spelling reverting back to a former variation. It is now generally spellt Mallaranny, but can also be found as Mullranny and Malaranny. / The town sits on the coastline of Clew Bay. Clew Bay is said to have 365 islands (one for each day of the year). Some are inhabted by small populations and others are used for grazing sheep and cattle. / As can be seen in this shot, at low tide one could walk across the wet sands to the islands. Cattle can be seen wading through the shallows going back and foth from the mainland to the islands. / This is a shot of the view behind my Aunt’s house, taken one night on the way home from the pub. Camera always handy, I set it atop a gate post for stability, set the timer, etc., and it didn’t turn out too bad considering I was three sheets to the wind at the time.
A lonely park bench waiting for company in a cold winter day.
My first pastel Australian landscape painting. Imagine tranquil pools of still water, surrounded by worn rock, soft grasses swaying in the breeze. Take in the majestic and photogenic landscape, listen to nature and refresh your soul! I walked alone into a tranquil land / felt the coolness of the water with the palm of my hand / I looked up to the sky and turned my face to the sun / lost in the moment, with nature I was one….... a magic place to be.

An acrylic painting 29cm x 21cm on paper of the stunning Wentworth Falls Queen’s Cascades which is a 10 minute drive from our home. Waterfalls are a gift from nature to be enjoyed and this one is exceptionally beautiful. Sutton Bank is a high vantage point at the very edge of the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors with extensive views over the Vale of York and the Vale of Mowbray. Because of its location and high elevation, Sutton Bank is popular with gliding and flying enthusiasts. Predominant landmarks include Whitestone Cliff and Roulston Scar, the former overlooking the mysterious (and reputedly bottomless !) Lake Gormire. Close nearby are the villages of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliff, and Kilburn (famous for the White Horse of Kilburn, and Robert Thompson – the “Mouseman” of Kilburn). / Sutton Bank is one of the most spectacular inland cliffs anywhere in Britain, and carries one of the most hair-raising main roads in the country. The near vertical drop from top to bottom is around 140 metres, and crosses at least two major geological boundaries. / The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is on the western edge of the fabulous North York Moors National Park – home to the largest expanse of heather moorland in England. It provides the perfect introduction to the National Park, its people, history and wildlife. Nikon D60 / HDR in Photomatix & pp in PS CS3 / Lens: Nikkor 18-200mm / 1/160 f/9.0 ISO200
