There has been one sale of this image. In November 2008 this image was featured in the group, Buyers R Us. In February 2009, this image placed third in the U.S. Parks Wildlife Shots challenge hosted by the AMERICA’s National Parks and WILDLIFE Habitat group. A thousand Yellowstone wonders are calling, ‘Look up and down and round about you! John Muir – 1898 The temperatures were in the single digits on this cold, snowy January morning at West Thumb Geyser Basin, which is one of the smallest geyser basins in Yellowstone. A incredibly scenic area along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, West Thumb only has a small amount of geyser activity. However, the basin more than makes up for it with its diversity. Despite its small size, it has paint/mud pots, hot springs, pools, lake shore geysers, and fumaroles. Fumaroles are small openings that release steam and other gasses. You can see in the foreground the muddy, soupy waters inundating the paint pots. The white area beyond the tree line in the right hand side of the photograph is Yellowstone Lake. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please don’t copy or download this image. Everytime I was washing the dishes in front of my window I kept looking at that fantastic scene .The snow had covered all the roof and at the same time my window ,it was completely dark ,until the snow began to melt .What a sight but I had to remove the icy snow with my hand and push inch by inch the window to open enough so I could go through the small window and take some shot .You should have seen me ,all wet and very happy of my idea. / I called it «communion» because ,at first the two icesticks were just one and melted until they got separated but it looks like they are reaching to get together again.The drop is the communion between them,a« metaphore» but for me it was magical.It’s like the time is suspended…..an untouched pic… / / /

Another shot part of this series taken at the top of the Garibaldi Provincial Park hiking trail (at the end of the campground) some 9 km from the valley. Took this a few weeks ago as the sun was starting to slowly come down and casting a few nice shadows on the frozen pond next to the lake. / This is another HDR image, 3 images used to create this image. / Shot with my Canon Xt, Sigma 17-35mm lens

I can only speculate that the winds in the fall blew fine mist, off Wabigoon Lake, onto the shoreline at freeze up. Grass, small shrubs and the rocks are covered in a thick layer of ice. I can only imagine what it looked like before the snow flew. Dryden, ON. Hi all, been away for quite a while now, hope you are all well. I clicked on RB yesterday for the first time in ages and was pleased to see the high standard has still been maintained, this inspired me to try and make time for photography again, i had thousands of photos i had taken but not done anything with, so this morning before i went to work i got up and did this, i thought it was quite topical for the weather we are having here in England at the moment. It is a village scene from our local village Wentworth. Hope you like it. / Dave.

It was snowing heavily in late evening upon our arrival in St Johann, Austria. This lovely lone tree was full of snow and went straight into my must photograph journal, I decided to wait till morning to get the best light. The only thing that stopped my planned photograph, the morning rain. Although this shot was not what I was intending I am happy with the result as the mist did help in isolating the tree. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A massive amount of dust and hair removed in photoshop, where had my camera been and OMG, how do I stop the sensor getting that dirty? I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. I rushed out looking for potential spots to photograph, I took this one in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, UK. Photographed from the car as that was the only place I could see to get the shot between the hedges without falling in a ditch. Plus it was cold and I’d rushed out of the house without a jumper. BGB Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/14, 1/200 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. I just had the sensor cleaned to this is straight form the camera. Due to the amazing amount of comments I have had from Solitude I thought I’d share this shot. I couldn’t help myself, had to walk up to the tree, hence the footprints in the virgin snow, although retracing my footprints to take the photograph was very difficult. I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. Just after stuffing the car into a ditch, through expert test driving on ice, ahem, actually practicing handbrake turns, oops. While deciding how to dig the car out on the ditch in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, UK, I noticed these lovely trees. / It was a fair old way into the middle of the field to get the right perspective but I’m glad I did. / I hope you like it. I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. I rushed out looking for potential spots to photograph, I took this one in Mentmore, Bedfordshire, UK. I’m not sure I should have been there as it looked like a private golf club. There were keen golfers ready and willing to play with their orange balls and stern looks, probably due to my entrance – as I didn’t get onto the grounds the traditional way – I hoped they didn’t mind too much as I scampered back to the car. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 52mm, f/5.6, 1/125 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A nice sturdy but ice covered tripod. A keen sense of fun. A slight touchup job in CS4.
