Exploring more than one moment in time … January 2006

Exploring more than one moment …
Glowing candles, corn candy and colorful leaves reflecting on a mirror.
I took this shot in Bateau Bay, which is part of Central Coast New South Wales Australia. Roughly 2 hours above Sydney. I love the glow of sunsets in wet sand and this, broken by the rocks, formed a scene I just had to capture!
Scattered Leaves .. Pathway through the woods , autumn time
Sometimes a soft wind blows / and scatters the very fragments of you life all over the page.. / and sometimes, if you are very lucky, someone comes to you / and helps you to put the picture back together again. It may be a different picture, / but who’s to say its not equally beautiful.. and occassionally even more so!
A trip on a river in India.. I was coming down after a day of bliss and sun looking up, I felt spent and ‘scattered’..

So this, the perfect beauty of our days, / When earth and heaven were vocal of her praise, / The fates have slain, and her sweet soul reposes; / And tears I bring, and sighs, and on her tomb / Pour milk, and scatter buds of many a bloom, / That dead, as living, she may be with roses. Words written by Pierre Ronsard, 1550 / Painting using mixed media Music – Danse Macabre – Saint-Saens 19th October 2008
I imagine these antlers, in their prime, carried high and proud on the heads of the deer that died to bring meat to the hunter’s family. In velvet, soft and lush, strengthening with the passing of time. Rubbing against trees and brush, clattering with another buck’s antlers, establishing dominance and claiming does. Whether on a deer’s head, hanging on a wall, or stacked in a pile, there’s something majestic about antlers… Aged and Weathered
A spot I found a couple of years ago and decided that now would be a great time to visit given the peak fall colors. What I didn’t count on was all the blowdown from last winter which made this short journey a 2 hour scramble over and under rock and log. I think the hike was worth it! Autumn leaves line a tumbling stream as it flows over boulder and rock.
I bought some more RAM. It helped with this one.
While humans tend to focus on just one thing mother nature can scatter her passions and make the world a lovely place.

Driftwood on the shores of the bay…in San Lorenzo, CA…. We used to simply call this spot “The End of Grant”, and teenagers would go and hang out there a lot. Nowadays, it’s one of my favorite spots to go wandering with my camera. How things change! :)

Pastel on Colourfix paper (burgundy) – 70cm x 50cm We are having a few scattered showers here at the moment, which reminded me I had this painting hidden somewhere in my archives! A study of eucalyptus leaves which I painted in 2005 as part of a solo exhibition (My Easel and Eye) which was held at a local winery. The opening was a BLAST! One of the most memorable days of my life! Featured in the Art Up Close group – Sept 2009 / Featured in Contemporary Pastel Painters – Oct 2009
