Sometimes all you can do is bravely seek the comfort of others! I have been working on this piece for the last few days and added the finishing touches this morning after I logged on to the Bubble and read dearest Fa’s AKA frozenfa recent journal entry. Its late at night, you are restless, can’t sleep. A walk on the beach seems like a fine idea. No one is around. Just the sounds of the waves and the wind. The lonely wail of an offshore buoy, consistent and haunting. / You hear the sounds of your feet as you walk through the sand toward the path to the beach. / Nearing the path you wonder if it was such a good idea to walk out here alone at night. You hear rustling, the wind, you wonder? The buoy, beating it’s tune to the rhythm of the waves. A fog rolling in, brings a feel of unease to you. Looking down the path you wonder. Should I go? What was that sound? You strain to hear, but the sound of the waves and the wind leave you wondering if you really heard anything at all. And suddenly, the hairs on your arms rise….....

Okay, so there I was in my little kayak slowly cruising near the Pali (cliffs) of Maui, when out out the shallow water came the biggest fish I have ever seen! I must have pee’d in my pants. My camera was in my hands already, but the auto-focus was jumping all over the place. It was sort of a slow-motion nightmare, except that it was really cool after I realized that this hummer wasn’t actually going to land in my teeny little boat. I managed to get one photo. Whew.

Taken during Art in All of Us (www.artinallofus.org) activities last month in the island of St Kitts. The AiA Awareness Program (http://www.artinallofus.org/about-us/programs.html) introduces multicultural exchanges and knowledge during visits into schools by introducing photographic and other interactive cultural activities. One child wanted to express the idea of being made out of sand and being happy with it. He made the composition…. I just pressed the button ;-) Inspire children is part of our mission, giving them a voice is our duty… All proceeds from sales of pictures will go to the child art education project of Art in All of Us (WWW.ARTINALLOFUS.ORG) /

Made up from 2 of my photographs for the background and reindeer, I painted Father Christmas in green (using Corel paint brushes) because that’s what he used to wear until the Coca Cola people decided to brighten him up Lol. / I’ll probably work some more on the uncropped version of this and upload nearer that time of year.
