My other daughter for a change – this is Sarah – AKA InTheMaking For this shot – the title came first [one night in a dream]. So, it was scruffy jeans and trainers, and old tiles on the bottom half. For this I pulled back the carpet to expose the bare tiles underneath and placed some old plasterboard against the wall under the window. We made some tears in a pair of Sarah’s jeans and rubbed some dirt into her trainers. The top half needed to be glitz [items of costume jewellery and my wedding ring], jewels and a red carpet – the wine, well that is just cold tea . I used normal household lighting and just pointed the lampshade in her direction with a soft pearly bulb at 40W. I wanted mono [for rags] and colour [for riches] in the shot, which I achieved in photoshop post production, but not just straight forward selective colouring – it had to graduate in intensity from left to right to get it correct with the perspective I used for the shot. Hope you like it – Sarah will be watching your reponses with a keen eye no doubt.

They will fly up to 50 kilometers, (31 miles), to find food and even develop a flight pattern that they follow everyday. During the winter seasons when the food is scarce they will eat fruits that are laid out for them by people. At the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in Queensland, the visitors are asked to hold food out for the birds when they arrive in groups of hundreds at around 4pm. They will perch on people’s arms and heads to be fed. Rainbow Lorikeets make very good pets because they can be tamed so easily and have a fun natured temperament.

This image is metaphorical because it is actually Mouse, the horse, who pulled me out of the ashes renewed. She was a gift from my husband for my fiftieth birthday. It was a time when I was struggling to find direction in my life as well as my art. This dapple gray beauty renewed me and inspired me and has helped me to grow as a person as well as an artist.

This is a picture of an unusual building that I loved on a road in Italy, near Sorrento. / I wanted to focus the attention on the building so I decided to colour select only the building and leave the background in black and white. / This is my first attempt at colour selection. /

So I’m afraid that a close-up of an eye with various work in photoshop may be a bit cliché- but enough people have done it that I don’t have a particular example to credit as my inspiration. Created in photoshop with a picture I took of my eye (next to the sink :) ) and a picture of a campfire from this summer. I now also have a second in a series of element eye images Awash – let me know what you think, I think I like Ablaze better but it will be cool when I have all of them… /

As you can see this is the same image as the original Floral Fireworks that I uploaded earlier.. One of the responses to the original shot was a comment from LocoCow saying that adding some selective colour would really make this is sparkle, so I gave it a go and here we are.. Let me know what you think and whether or not I should keep it on here.. / Thanks for looking!

Here’s a nice accident! It was to be a photo of my hubby but decided to make it all about me for once!! Ohh… And this is probably as close as we get to having a photo taken together these days!

I like the use of selected colouring on this because of the brown colour of the wire. The background of the old water tank sets up the scene perfectly, along with the Lithgow Valley Mountain range behind it.

Two chickens out for an afternoon stroll in winter, near Kelso, Borders. They were starting out from the farm just behind me. Where were they going? The other side of the road or the end of it? I seem to recall this was my first attempt at selective colouring (but am willing to be corrected by RBers with a good memory (or, who need to get out more)). This is perhaps my most favourite shot because it has caused so many other people to smile and add comments. Thank you all. I hope it continues to bring joy to many more. Featured in “The male photographer” group.

Corfe Castle is a ruined castle, village and civil parish in the English county of Dorset. The castle dates back to the 11th century, and commands a gap in the Purbeck Hills on the route between Wareham and Swanage. Even to this day, all road traffic to and from the Swanage area must pass below the battlements of the castle. The picturesque village of Corfe Castle lies in the gap below the castle, and is some eight kilometres (five miles) south-east of Wareham, and the same distance west of Swanage. Both the current main A351 road to Swanage, and the Swanage Railway, thread their way through the gap and the village. The civil parish of Corfe Castle stretches across the width of the Isle of Purbeck, with coasts facing both the English Channel and Poole Harbour. It therefore includes sections of both the low lying sandy heathland that lies to the north of the castle, and the rugged Jurassic Coast upland to the south.
