  • My daughter, Grace, taking a break!! Ballet moves her… ...also my first attempt a selective coloring.

  • A fanciful depiction of the psyche of a Replicant, which has the form of a human, yet the soul of blasphemous creation, a Golem, a Frankenstein, a tormented being, anxious and deranged, knowing its time is short and its end inevitable. The spider patterning exudes the replicant’s un-empathic nature, the thing that separates them from humans. If you haven’t, check out Philip K. Dick’s Novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. It is brilliant. See also:

  • Sunrise on the ocean, is a beautiful look with the mist rising and the sky and sea taking on the colors of the sun. Get up before 5 and take a walk if you live near a beach, it’s so worth it. • I think this is the first time I was able to get as close as I was to this beautiful fellow. I was so pleased when I uploaded it onto the computer and saw the results. Believe me this has had selective colouring on the shot it is just that the owl is mainly white. The original shot was taken in The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre & Animal Park in Cornwall. I have been playing about with it again; a crop here to focus tight on his beautiful eyes and selective colouring there and this is the result which I love. I hope you like it and thank you for viewing. The selective colouring was made in Photoshop Elements 6 NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/9 / Exposure time 1/500 sec / ISO speed 100 / Aperture priority / Focal length 190 mm on a 70 – 300 mm Nikon lens All the materials contained may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my permission. Featured In Tutorials Help and Advice Group In this tutorial we will be learning how to take a full colored image and turning only part of it into color, this is what we call (SC) Selective Coloring… / Here are my steps of the way that I do this and the way I teach it… First we will go into photoshop and open it up / Next we will go to the top left corner of the page and click on File and then open so that we can choose our image / Scroll through your images and open this up in photoshop / Now once that the image is up, we will want to go to the bottom right corner in our photoshop in the layers palette and you should see your image in a small icon that will say background beside it. / You will then hold down on your left mouse and drag this all the way down to the bottom into the Create a new Layer icon, let go of your left held down mouse and you should see another image of the same image come up and it will say background copy. / Now we will make sure that the background copy is chosen so just click on it, when it is chosen it should be highlighted in blue. / Now for the next step we will go to the top left of the page where you will find image and we will click on this, and then other choices will come up and then we will want to click on adjustments and then Desaturate, wala your whole image should have just turned to black and white if done correctly and if you have followed these steps it will be. / Now it will be your choice of what you want in color, so go ahead and look at the image and make your choice, we don’t want to add it all back in color, we wnat only parts of it, that is why we call it (SC) Selective Color/ing. / Now to add some color back… / We will need to go to our tools at the left of our screen and we will be using the History Brush Tool, so go ahead and left click on this. / Be sure to use History Brush Tool. / You may also want to make your brush size a little smaller and to do this we will go to the top of the left corner of the screen and we will see brush, there will be an arrow pointing downward and lets just left click on that choose your master diameter size that you want to use, you can move this down or up in size. Once chosen you can go work on your image and brush on the part that you want color added back to. If you mess up and brush to much or get out of the lines simply click your back button at top left of screen and it will simply take away what you have messed up and you may start again. / Once we have what all we want colored back in we will want to save our work, and we will do this by simply going to File/ Save As and then type in what youwant to save your image as… / YOU”RE DONE! AND I HOPE MY TUTORIAL HAS HELPED YOU ALL…

  • Its an experiment…trying for selective colour in a crop of wild beauty / and after wrestling for hours with a pesky lasso i managed to briefly subdue it (a first!) and then fumbled the keyboard…arriving somehow at this after rubbing out some scruffy bits. • Yes their back! The ladybirds from Mount Burr made an emergence yesterday with thousands massing in a number of spots within the forest. This group were huddled together in their hundreds on a power pole just above ground level. As with all things in life there is always one or two who stand out in a crowd. Canon 400D 18-55 taken at night with aid of a speedlight. Processed in Photo shop CS3.

  • Captured this image aboard the Cruiseship “Valor”, during a 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise. Some of the ships’ interior was quite interesting and warranted a few photo sessions. This is a 15 second exposure of some empty barstools, shot from the floor with camera angled upwards. Image made with tripod mounted Nikon D300 and Nikkor 18-70mm lens. The image itself has been run through ReDynaMix for an HDR “feel”, then converted to B&W, then with several layers gradually punched through the layers to achieve the selective coloring on the barstools from the original color HDR image. / Please view in Large to see all of the detail ….
